I don't think there was any doubt the time out was called in time, smart coaching, I don't see any problem with it.
on another topic, what I did have a problem with was how the Cat players acted after the game, heard from many, it was the worst they had ever seen from sportsmanship. Direct reflection of their coaches in my opinon.
I don't agree with how some of the fans acted on both side, win with class and lose with class. One big difference, coaches control their players, or they should. Hope cat coaches learn from this and teach their players about winning with class.

I'm not sure if you have been to any cat/ griz games in Bozeman. But for the last decade you had owned us in our own house. We have become accustomed to seeing these antics after griz wins in bobcat stadium. Not saying I like it. . . But neither side has taken the high road. It ha's almost become a tradition when the foe wins on the road

I don't really care because I don't take taunting personally, and I think it makes the game more fun when the players are having fun.

Really? The last time griz won in Bozeman, they started chanting FTC on the Bobcat Logo, and planted a flag on it...They flipped off the fans as they left the field....It is what it is. The game means a LOT to these players.

Let me preface this by saying I don't care either. But I can say with 100% certainty the Griz do the exact same thing after winning in our place. Which sadly has happened a lot. In 2015 when you beat the crap out of us I had sideline passes and saw and heard it all. Stomping on our logo. Spitting. FTC. Waving goodbye to our fans etc.

I think the best thing to do if you don't want to see this is to defend your homefield which neither of us have done well lately. But it most definitely happens by both teams just like about 95% of the rest of the rivalry that both fans take part in and sweat up and down their players and fans don't do the same thing.

Impossible, as there wasn't anyone but Griz fans hanging around in the stadium at that point.

I was sitting in the front row right behind the Grizzly bench for the game. I can't honestly say that I've paid much attention to the way either team has reacted in the past. I've never been to a game in Bozeman, so I can't say I've seen how Grizzly teams reacted after wins in Bozeman. The flag on the logo doesn't bother me, the spitting, though tacky, doesn't bother me. I suspect that either would celebrate in similar fashion on the other teams home field. Celebrating a big win like that is totally fine with me.

I sat in the stands in 2016 and watched the Cats celebrate. While that was tough to watch, I got the sense that it was just a team celebrating and enjoying the win. I walked away with a very different feeling this year. Bobcats came strutting out to midfield taunting the Grizzly bench as they were heading to the locker room, it was just a different feeling that in games in the past, way more demonstrative behavior from Bobcats. It seemed like Bobcats were ready to incite a post-game brawl at midfield, which is different than celebrating with your team. I actually credit the Griz team for not reacting, it would have been hard for me to stay composed if I were on the field. It was noticeably worse behavior than Portland States behavior after their win, for comparison. I don't recall ever being turned off by another teams celebration the way I was on Saturday, but that was my take walking out of the stadium. I would have been embarrassed to see Grizzly players act the same way in Bozeman.

Credit to Dalton Sneed. He was shaking hands and congratulating the Bobcats when the rest of the Grizzly team was headed to the locker room. He's a warrior and leader, but also looks to be a great ambassador for Grizzly Athletics. A total class act, in my opinion. I'm happy he's a Griz. Something tells me that he will be leading his team into an all-out war in Bozeman next year.

I brought my 9yr old son to his first Cat/Griz game/college game yesterday in Missoula. We had tickets smack dab in the middle of the NEZ. I can say without a doubt, that other than a couple loudmouth, profane jerks(which all fan bases have), we were treated awesome in a very hostile environment. Thank you to all the Griz fans in and out of the NEZ for making his first game memories all good. We were decked out in blue and gold and cheered our team loud and proud. We had some good ribbing back and forth but all in good fun. I want to teach my son how to win and lose with class and I think he got to see a great example of that in Missoula yesterday. How lucky are we in MT to get to be a part of such an intense, passionate rivalry. I dislike the griz to my bone, but am proud to know these two teams represent our state. In about 2 min time yesterday, both fan bases felt the emotions of winning and losing. What a crazy, memorable game. Thank you for making it an experience my son and I will never forget. Til next year...

Kailicat, I'm glad to hear that you had a good experience. Your son will surely remember that experience for the rest of his life. Hope you make it back in 2020.

I think we're maybe talking about different things, which is my fault for not clarifying. I know that sort of stuff happens from both teams. I guess it sucks? But I know this means a lot to all the players, so I don't get bent out of shape about it.

My point is, for a team that has now won three in a row and wants to claim they're the "dominant" program in the state, the team still reacts to beating the Griz like they're punching up.

Granted, we've never had a really close, last second win that I can remember since 1997, so I guess I can't say we wouldn't act the same way, just that we haven't.

Rivalry games are a lot like political campaigns. Lots of hypocrisy. My opponents ads are dishonest and paid for by out of staters where my ads are just pointing out my opponents record.

There are enough bad examples on both sides.

I suggest that we all can do our part to improve the environment. Realize the kids on the opposite side are just as invested in the game. They have parents, siblings, and other relatives in the stands and don't need to hear personal attacks on their kids.

If you see someone acting badly, say something. Be better than the lowest common denominator.

That being said, there is a difference in the actions of cat players toward the fans than I saw under Ash and more so Kramer. I had a friend play under Kramer. And they were coached to not even look in the stands, much less interact. That was not the case the past 2 trips in Missoula. I have season tickets behind the opposing bench. They are definitely more engaged with the fans. Not sure it means anything one way or the other. Just different sideline actions by the players.

This I can kind of get on board with. Kind of the act like you've been there before thing I suppose. And I usually buy into that. But this game is bigger than the game. So I guess I just expect some over the top antics by the winning team. I had to watch the griz win every game for a decade and a half and saw a lot of over-the-top celebrating.

But I think the WAY this one ended definitely made it different. This doesn't make excuses if any of our kids took it too far. But I think it explains the sheer joy despite winning 3 straight.

I guess you just always hope that the players and fans just don't take it too far which unfortunately we see sometimes.

I have been to many games in Bobcat stadium, even on the field a few times, never saw them act like that ever. Direct reflection on the coaching staff. If the Griz did this, I would be highly disappointed. All starts with the head coach.

I went over to bobcatnation and there was a thread about a fan in the Montana section threw a bag of feces at a msu player during the 2nd quarter, the perpetrator was thrown out of the stands this coming from the players mom. wtf is wrong with some people, I mean I get the back and forth between rivals but this is bad for any fan base. we all know we have them but come on.

Unfortunately iIwas told this yesterday by a friend whom was at the game. Guy was sitting a few rows in front of him. He should face charges for assault if true. I didn't see what did the bobcat players do after the game everyone is crying about.

Seriously. It's a football game played by teenagers. If you're taking things to that level you are completely fucked in the head.

I, mean, it's possible. When you haven't had much to cheer about since... 2011, you take what you can get. Hell EWU rushed the field against us in 2010, twice, and we were 7-4 that year.
