Sports Illustrated will feature former FCS QB Carson Wentz!

You guys just better hope Krakauer doesn't write the SI article...

I'll be rooting for Wentz. I went to college in ND for a few years and still have great friends that live over there. They are very excited about Wentz as they should be. If we had a Montana born Griz QB drafted in the 1st round, Griz fans would be equally if not more boastful about it.

No kidding. He really tore apart the Griz in Missoula. Overall I wasn't impressed with his book though. If you want to read a good one he wrote pick up Under the Banner of Heaven. Great book.

FYI, Wentz was born in North Carolina and lived there until he was a pre schooler.

Well then on that basis, Missoula and Montana can claim Elway, #1 draft pick who has Superbowl rings.

Alright go for it.

I aways forget that his Dad coached for the Griz, where his teams lost back to back Camellia Bowls against NDSU

Pshhh... Big deal. You guys had a whole book written about Griz football players in the book Missoula: Rape and the Justice System in a College Town.

Yet you fail to mention the 10 bison football players who did voting fraud, pleaded guilty, and were never suspended one game. Talk about getting away with crap. Bison were quick to turn the other way when star linebacker Travis Beck assaulted a police officer and ran from the cops...two separate incidents. Heck do the Bison suspend anyone for anything

Let's see. Faking signatures on a medical marijuana ballot or rape. Boy I don't know which one is worse.

Travis Beck never ever assaulted a police officer. That entire case was dropped due to video evidence proving he did nothing wrong on top of the dozens of eye witnesses who backed up everything that was said about the incident.

I'm guessing if the voter fraud happened in Missoula that town would rejoice. Every year I spend a week fishing there and f*** is there a lot of weed being smoked in the public. Crazy.

First, Beck is charged with a FELONY for beating the daylights out if a kid, and nothing happens at all in terms of suspension or discipline. Then a FEW months later, Beck pleads guilty to resisting arrest and not one thing happens on that one either. Then 8 of your bison players plead guilty to voter fraud after they are paid $9 per hour to fake signatures on a state ballot and not one thing happens to any of them either. 4 of them are starters with two of them being standouts (Ojuri and Williams). My point is your team has plenty of troublemakers and none of them were disciplined in any way. Winning football games was a priority over accountability. So I'm thinking you're the last guy who can talk sh$t about any Missoula shenanigans.

Charged and subsequently dropped as video evidence proved that Beck was jumped and hit back in self defense. There are videos of it out there. Feel free to watch it yourself. The resisting arrest was charged from him running away, not from physically assulting an officer as you claimed. You clearly have no understanding of what happened.

In regards to the voter fraud, it wasn't just Bison football players charged but anyone working for the firm hired to gather signatures. Was it wrong? Ya. Was it suspension worthy? Obviously not according to the NCAA who investigated it and determined it to be minor. In any case it wasn't rape.

In both cases though, North Dakota State University did not try to cover up what happened on an institutional level.

Lets just all agree that every single program has players do incredibly dumb shit every single year....its just who gets caught and who they decide to crucify. I was a Wentz fan even when playing the Griz....I think its awesome a kid from Bismarck was drafted so high...

That being said...as a Cowboys fan..I now hope he sucks ass and is a huge bust ...haha I so so so badly did not want him to go to another NFC East team....now I must hate him...... RIP Senore Wentz

May you be blessed with the grace and humility of Philly Fans!

It's great to see Wentz get the #2 draft. Getting noticed by NFL scouts seemed to fuel guys like Adams and Prokup to transfer to an FBS school. Knowing what we know now, would those two have pulled the trigger in an effort for higher profile. Will that send a message that you don't necessarily need to be FBS to get noticed by the NFL?

Ironically Adams never did get drafted. Might he have been better off staying at EWU? I'm sure EWU would have done a better job of developing him as a QB for another year than Oregon could...

VA would have been better off going to a pro style FBS team to prove his skill set could transfer to the NFL. Level of competition wasn't the question with him as he proved it against FBS teams while playing at EWU.

OK, it's fine to hate the Bison, but this kid is spectacular and the success and talent should be a source of pride from the "student athlete" division of the NCAA that reached new heights. What would the landscape of NCAA football look like if we had more of people like Carson Wentz?

Jameis Winston, Johnny Manzeil or Ryan Leaf, anyone?

I don't get the big deal with being on the Cover of Sports Illustrated....My beloved Cats were on the cover in 2007. Some article about Murders and Drugs.

SI covers are about to stoop to an all time low, if rumors are true. Apparently they are having Bruce/Caitlyn Jenner pose nude for an upcoming cover. Honestly to God, why????? If they do this, I will never respect that publication again.

Showcasing a mental illness and/or self promotion gimmick from a yesterday's hero counts as "Sports" these days and deserves to be illustrated? Where do you draw the line between a legitimate publication and the tabloids?

The average sports fan idolizes the accomplishments on the field by these people with their God given athletic talents, but not to peer into the dark corners of their mental attic. Lord almighty if we knew everything about every bum that ever was enshrined in an athletic hall of fame we would have virtually nothing to look up to.

Did I miss it? My SI this week has the new donkey QB on the cover. Did Carston Wendt goof up on the main stage again? I heard all this fame has gone to his head and he refuses to do any autographs even for disabled children so there was no reason for the cover

Why put a third string QB on the cover. It is the folly of the Eagles draft. They have thirty-seven million in guarantees already on the roster at QB that they can't trade without eating some of it against the cap.

There were three covers ... one with Patch, one with Goff and one with Wentz. I too got the one with Patch.

Looks like Wentz may be starting sooner rather than later
