Sports Illustrated Big Sky Conference Preview

All I’m saying is the cats have played a team for two years in a row that should’ve been seeded. Not sure how any of that works but I’d love an explanation.
Dude. Because they lost 3 games to fcs programs and got EMBARRASSED in their final game. Yes, the fcs (like all things fcs) playoff seeding is a joke, and yes, ndsu should have been seeded like 10th. But it was the second round. You STILL would have played them, as msDui was clearly NOT a seed.

And suggesting Weber should have been a seed last year is, well, insane.

How was last year's schedule so hard? You won against losing teams last year and lost to all the good teams you played. I just can't understand why certain people, you included, cannot understand this concept.

You got to play NDSU at home just like the Griz did. Don't tell me that your stadium isn't a massive home field advantage for y'all just like WaGriz. Homefield advantage exists for every team, and is earned based on the seeding.

MSU graduated seniors as well, losing Askelson, Chambers, Pickering, Price and Snell.

Your pedantic arguments are nothing if not entertaining.
Thats so foolish to say. Literally ranked 2 in strength of schedule, come on dude. Askelson should be replaced by Bullock, Chamber is fine, Pickering and Snell got replaced by the te from Maine, and Price has plenty of depth at his position.

Lost to SDSU away (tough stadium to play at), Idaho away (tough stadium to play at), UM (very tough to play at). I’m just saying NDSU got screwed but showed how dang good they are. This will all be gone now with the expanded bracket though.

No you're foolish because you don't understand that strength of schedule only matters when you WIN games.

Yes, your SOS was high, precisely because you played sdsu, Idaho and the GRIZ.

What did all 3 of those games have in common?

By year-end, the GRIZ SOS was markedly higher than the bubs, after playing 8 top 20 teams.

There's no style points in football dude. Maybe go watch skating if that's what you're into. All that matters is winning and losing.

Who freaking cares how they looked? The Griz beat Idaho on the road and beat NDSU at home, and beat four times as many winning teams as the Cats did.
So does the committee only look at the good games? The gris had 4 games that they looked like an unseeded playoff team.

How… the playoff committee has a massive emphasis on SOS so how would it work when you only win…
Because losing to ALL the good teams doesn't help you. At all. Now, if you lost to one of them and beat the rest that would certainly play into it. Or even if you split and win two, and lose two, but the Cats losing to EVERY playoff team does not mean your schedule was so much harder.

How does that not make your schedule harder… literally playing harder teams make the games harder…

Are you really this obtuse? I concede that the Cats regular season schedule may have looked more difficult than the Griz, BUT by the end of the year, the Griz had played and beaten many more winning teams than the Cats had, INCLUDING UC Davis, Idaho, Sac State, MSU, Delaware, Furman, and NDSU. The only way to really evaluate strength of schedule is to look at it in the rearview mirror. Because some teams that are supposed to be good turn out to be nothing, while other teams rise up.

What were Montana State's good wins?? Sac State and Weber State. That's IT. And you lost to UM, Idaho, SDSU and NDSU. THE GRIZ FACED ALL THOSE SAME MATCHUPS, only losing to SDSU!!!! You lost all four, while the Griz won 3/4. In the end, the Griz had a harder schedule, but managed to win their games. Stop blaming the schedule for why your team did so badly last year. There were a lot of reasons but the schedule wasn't one.

All I’m saying is the cats had the 2nd hardest regular season schedule in all of FCS. Yes those opponents were hard but we played all of them away which made them much harder. I actually fully believe that if the cats had an easier schedule they would’ve gotten a higher seed and could’ve made a better run but in the end no one was beating SDSU.

Well, you clearly weren't beating ndsu or Montana either so....

And by your reasoning, would you also say that the GRIZ could have made a deep run in last year's playoffs? Or does your wacky theory only apply to the bubs?

Are you saying the gris could’ve made a deep run because of their SOS?
