Sporting my GRIZ Gear in Tucson

I've been in Tucson just over a week. I sport GRIZ gear everywhere. Tucson people are so friendly, kind, and accommodating to me. Many "Go GRIZ " comments.

Just finushed taking quick videos of the external U of A athletic facilities. One brother, started greeting me at a gas station, like a long lost friend. As we approached each other, he realized, I wasn't who he thought I was. He told me, he knows a lot of GRIZ fans and Bobcat fans. He knew alot about both schools. Apparently, he played for the Outlaws after his college days. The mother of his son went to MSU. He told me, he wished the mother were a GRIZ. If the GRIZ recruit his kid, he'll either play for AZ or the GRIZ.

I thanked him and asked him, why his love for Montana? He told me, "hands down, no doubt about it, GRIZ fans are the best in the nation. " He then added, "Your fans are louder than any Pac 12 school, except maybe the Ducks". He then said, he played in every Pac 12 stadium, while he played for AZ.

Too bad, his woman was in a hurry. I just caught his 1st name, Ray. What an experience. By the way, I'm loving Tucson.

Was walking through the grocery store in San Antonio yesterday and a guy hollers “Go Griz!” Then walks up and proceeds to tell me that he played against the Griz “a loooooong time ago” In a playoff game....I thought he said he played for Alcorn State, but I don’t remember the Griz ever playing Alcorn State....maybe I misunderstood him...anyway, he said “y’all kicked our asses! Too damned cold up there!”...lol

New Mexicans don't even care about their own teams let alone any other ones. One time I saw a young man wearing a Griz hat and gave him a "Go Griz!" only to be met with a blank stare. When I mentioned the hat, he shrugged and said a relative from Montana gave it to him. He had zero clue about UM.

When I wear my Griz gear around Albuquerque, I get virtually no reaction. I think I have gotten a comment once in the last 15 years.

At least per the graphic above , Griz fans are nearly twice as loud per fan than anyone on the list? Come on marketing department, skew the data alittle!

scared in that place - she was 7 years old - she never let go of her mother
for the whole first quarter.

"One year I gave my pep talk, went down to the field and they've got that
rubber tunnel set up. I thought, that's nice, it's there to keep fans from
throwing anything on us. And I get in there and Monte is there, the flaps are
closed, and I couldn't get on the field. Monte told me I'd better back off,
and I said, 'No, I'm fine.' Then he started that motorcycle and I about jumped
out of my skin. They opened the flaps and the crowd just went crazy.

"That thing with Monte, the big-screen TV - I'm doing a time out one time and
I look up and Tom Cruise is on the screen doing that dance from 'Risky
Business,' and I'm watching it! I thought, 'What the heck am I doing, am I
crazy?' - it's all just an unbelievable advantage for the home team."
