First ... let's not rehash the thread(s) about the Griz playing a super-cupcake in Savannah State. That was done to death long ago. So this is strictly for information. It's from Dec 7, but I just came across it for a football "project" I'm working on.

As some of you may know, Savannah State announced (last spring, I think) its intention to go back to D-II for all sports ... they can't afford to compete at D-I. Because they have current commitments on athletic scholarships, this transition will take several years.

I saw that article too, but decided to use the later one

Attendance? Awful. For 2016, they were just behind Portland State, the worst in the Big Sky for that year.

Those HBCU teams generally do pretty well on attendance, so I'd guess being at a level where they can win some home games, and maybe compete for a title, can only help.
