Man.. new head coach at Weber State Jay Hill has pillaged the Southern Utah coaching staff.

Weber State: Jay Hill has made another big hire from Southern Utah, landing defensive coordinator Justin Ena as well as Steve Clark and Fesi Sitaki (who we previously told you about). Ena will be defensive coordinator at Weber, Clark will be offensive coordinator and Sitake is expected to coach the receivers.

Success breeds this kind of stuff, but sucky for Southern Utah who had a great season and their first playoff berth.

Interesting. I remember Sitake being a damn good WR at SUU when we played them during the regular season in 2010. Sitake sliced and diced us pretty good, luckily we won that game.

What the hell is up with SUU? The team was in a bit of a rebuild having lost its stud qb, but still made the playoffs. Weber hasn't been on good footing since McBride's ticker started to fail and yet Weebs is more attractive?

I'm only guessing here, but I'm guessing the Weber jobs are paying quite a bit more than the SUU jobs..

It's nepotism--a head coach hiring his friends. Should be a law against that. Where's the national search?

Truly, when I see egriz posters talk about a national search, I can't stop laughing.

it is called cronyism, greenie. get your terms straight!

*unless we're talking the isu a.d., then we're truly talking nepotism.

Maybe I missed something, but if Clark is the new Offensive Coordinator, then where is Pflu?
Appears the only one being retained from the previous staff is Colton Swan, who played at Weber and has been on the staff for 9 years. The new head coach is definitely cleaning house.

SUU has really only had a better program the last two years, and Weber still beat them last season in Cedar. Overall Weber has better facilities, including a new indoor facility, better resources, more money, more tradition, and is generally more attractive to recruits.

Doesn't the Mormon 'church' train their "missionaries" there? They will be well funded, after all, it is Utah.

The Mormon Church really only cares about BYU, LA. And no the Mormon Church trains it's missionaries in Provo adjacent to BYU. The Mormon Church doesn't give two sh!ts about SUU, Weber, or Utah State. They may care a little about the University of Utah because it is the flagship U of the state of Utah, and it is in Salt Lake City, and many of, if not most, of the Grand Pubahs of the Mormon Church are Ute alums.

If you are a Mormon, and you went to a "state" school the BYU grads look down on you as someone either not smart enough or "righteous" enough to go to BYU. I know and respect some Mormons, but BYU grads are unbearable.

This. The standards for getting into BYU are insane and if you do get in, often times you're just a resume pusher but yah Weber has a lot of mormons but I don't think they actually get sponsored or monitored like BYU does. i.e. BYU students have to live in "mormon approved housing" and things along that nature.

Interesting, given that I've heard < 50% of Utes are actually Mormon.

That may be true, AZ. I think it is somewhere around 50% at the University of Utah. But historically most of the top Big Wigs of the Mormon Church have been U of U grads. I think there current president is the first one to be a BYU grad.

With so many people from other places moving there Utah is becoming less and less Mormon as a percentage of the population. Tons of Californians have moved there, I know that.
