Southeastern Louisiana Lions Scouting Report

This team scares me. It looks like their offense plays right into the weakest part of the Griz defense, the secondary.

Oh yea. Their QB averages 300+ per game and he is easily going to do that again. Comes down to the red zone scoring and thankfully the Griz are decent there only allowing like 25 per game.

No need to build this one up. It will be a blood bath. I didnt read through all the comments so if somebody already mentioned it, the conditions here are something SELA has never dealt with. The obvious is the atmosphere but the X factor is the weather. Combine the two and its a recipe for disaster. Villanova would have been a much tougher task.

But the Griz need to crank up the wildcat defense. Two of SELAs touchdowns were scored from in close by their "backup" (wildcat) QB -- 6'7, 260 pounds. He's a load, so you better stick him before he gets going.

Sounds like a TA reload - falls forward at the line and gets 5 yards.

I think 68griz is on to something....I don't want to be a debbie downer however Nash and Calhoun must have a great game.....I think we will have just enough to get the win at home.

People point to the Coastal game, but I can point to TONS of other games over the years (SFA in '95 for one) where southern teams don't do well. Also, Coastal had a freakin genius of a coach who knew what the weather would do and how to prepare for it...we won't see another coaching staff like that. Also, cold weather with their turnover issues, it won't be close. And people saying we suck against the pass...pretty sure UC-Davis and Idaho State would disagree. We let one team demolish us with the pass all game, and that was a team who was hosting their "Super Bowl". I was more worried about Villanova and their balanced offense. We'll be just fine in this game...here's to hoping Monmouth pulls the JMU upset and Kennesaw pulls the Weber upset. I want more home games!!

*exactly 72...

Long range Wx forecast looks like great temps in the high 30's to low 40's. Now all that can change in the next couple of days, but no real indications any Wx help is going to happen.

yes, this may have cb written all over it. if #3 has a hard time covering without the personal fouls etc, hopefully they will send help over the top for him. otherwise fouch is a great cover man.
my hope is that nash and calhoun are up for the challenge in a big way.

BH mentioned this team will prepare to attack Griz strength. Their coach said they game planned to take away a specific Nova player #2, and they essentially did.

Who do you think they will try to take away this week from the Griz?

Changa Hodge went 6 receptions for 98 yards and a TD, which was slightly better numbers than he's averaged this season.

My guess is they'll key on Toure hard, and I hope they have similar success against him that they did "containing" Hodge.

Now, if they can shut down the rest of our receivers and get to Sneed like MSU did, it will be a much different story.

Statistical data says they need to pay attention to Toure, who is #14 in receiving yards for FCS. Knight is not all that impressive in rushing (#34), so they probably don't see him as that much of a threat.

But, despite his time off and sub-standard recent games, Sneed is still #12 in Total Offense. I'd say they have to assume that two weeks of "rest" will make him dangerous (again). Gotta think Sneed ... specifically, limit his running and make him uncomfortable in the pocket. I'm leaning with those who think JL-M could be the key to a Griz win, on quick outs and swings.

I think a big chunk of his production came on a single big play if I am remembering correctly...

Their coach mentioned his number specifically.

I think they work to keep Sneed in the pocket and under pressure.

Hoping for the best, but thinking it's going to be ugly. Our secondary not prepared for this team. Watching on Saturday, I was really hoping for a Villanova win

I also think we are underestimating the Griz. I look for a big game from Montana. They have to be mad and will show up for this game. If we can get pressure on there QB it will be a good game for the Griz.

Griz play different at home...throw out he stats. SLU has been a bit inconsistent throughout the year like the Griz. Home field advantage. Griz earned the bye and home field if Griz can score early things will get ugly for SLU.
