Glenn qoutes...

Rezponding to people quextioning USD tough schedule:

"We've got scholarship players too."

"I don't see anybody punching us in tbe mouth and knocking us out in the first round."

Most have SD dead last in the Valley this year as they rebuild after losing a lot of 2-3 year starters and solid QB. Not to mention the new coaching staff, which I don't have to tell you about. They will build it, but it will be a tough year for Coyotes IMO with few Valley wins. Should not be a difficult test.

Players to watch out for on South Dakota roster:

2012 Preseason All-Conference:

#11 Tyler Starr DE/LB 6'5" 230 lbs junior - Ranked in FCS Top Ten last year in sacks/yds - 1st Team All Conference (MVFC) last year

2012 Preseason Honourable Mention:

#17 Will Powell WR 6'1" 205 lbs senior
#69 Tim Ross C 6'2" 285 lb senior
#82 Cole Zwiefelhofer P 6'3" 215 lb senior
#48 Kevin Robb K 5'9" 185 lb junior

Preseason Poll: 8th out of ten teams in the Missouri Valley Conference (MVFC)

Others to consider is that they do have a RB in #32 Marcus Sims, a senior, that played in 11 games last year, didn't start, led the team in rushing, had 127 attempts rushing for 678 yds - 6 Rec for 53 yds & 713 All-Purpose yds.

Josh VanderMoten #16, a 6'2" 205 lb sophomore QB that played in 7 games last year, didn't start, passing 22-38-0 for 221 yds and 3 TDs - 132.8 efficiency.

Kevin Robb kicked 17 FGs out of 20 attempts, longest 51 yds; 34 - 36 PATs

Cole Zwiefelhofer - 48 punts for a 43.1 avg.

#52 D'Angelo Butler - senior LB - 6'1" 210 lbs - started 11 games last year
#7 Chris Frierson - junior DB - 6'1" 180 lbs - " " "
#42 Darius Hogans - senior LB - 6'1" 215 lbs - " " "
#9 Aaron Swift - junior DB - 5'8" 170 lbs - " " "
#19 Charlie Goro - junior DB 6'2" 195 lbs - played in 10 games last year (2 INT)

They don't have a Jeremy Blount returning punts/kickoffs for them this year. A senior TE #84 Jay Burns - 6'4" 230 lbs that only caught 5 passes last year for 32 yds. A 6'1" 240 senior FB Quintin McMartin #87 that only had rushed once last year for a seven yard loss, but did have 2 rec. for 11 yds and one TD (something to be mindful of if they get into the Red Zone).

Let's hope:

1. That we have a game plan that doesn't result in us being behind 14-0 or 21-0 before our genius coaches "make adjustments" that rally us to victory. Oh whoops, I forgot, Royce did us a favor. Nevermind.

2. We unleash the offensive line. No belly bumping and shadow blocking. Kick some ass and dominate.

3. Our athletic LB's spend more time in the Coyote's backfield than their quarterback. BLITZ!

4. That Hermy reminds South Dakota why he was their High School Player of the Year.

5. That Shiny Bobble can throw over a packed-in defense. Go Long Flyin' Hawaii'n... Go Long!!

That's a good point, how quick does everyone break their neck looking back at us if we come out and win this first game by 30+

As much as I would like to see us come out and win by 30 points, I just don't see it. Possibly if we had JJ under center. But with the circumstances such as they are, along with Brent's practice reports I just don't see it. I hope I am wrong however!!!

My prediction is Griz D plays tuff.

14 Griz
7 SD

joe glenn wants this one bad. never bet against joe glenn.

That would be a Shocker if South Dakota State showed up!!!

Grizz will crush the Coyotes. They will finish last in the Valley with many 1 win...if they are lucky.

Graduated 23 seniors, new coach, new offense and defense, in Wash-Grizz...this will be a piss-pounding.

Grizz 38-6
