sounds like a real war zone last night....

WWE and UFC would have been proud of the physicality of that game. I guarantee it will be just as intense in the Championship game. The refs have to bring their A++++ games.

grizrule: what effect to you think these last two tight games will have on the griz tonight? will they be more battle-tested, or emotially drained? three in three nights--hell, i don't think even the nba does that.

See my opening post on the Championship game thread I started. It is addressed pretty early. :thumb:

I think the Griz may be a bit weary, having had 2 tough games in a row. Krslovik sat enough last night with foul trouble, so he is probably fine. EWU had a much easier game against SS, even tho it got a bit closer at the end. I'm not worried about emotionally drained. Battle-tested, maybe to some extent. I expect the Griz to play hard and well. Same with EWU. The Griz may have some feeling of destiny being on their side, and the crowd will be large and supportive, especially if it's a close game or the Griz are winning. The team needs to play well enough to keep the crowd excited and in the game.

Gregory is on a mission. He will be tough. Weisner didn't score or get shots, but he's tough, playing well and on a mission too. Breunig will be good, and won't miss 4 free throws in a row. He's not going to let some German kid outplay him. Ha. Dunn is consistently good. Gfeller needs to get more shots and contribute more. He's been getting beat up, but his minutes were not huge in either game, so he shouldn't be weary. Bradshaw has been playing well and stepping up. Kemp has shown that he can play good minutes, and more minutes. Lopez' defense is always good.

We'll see if EWU's legs have enough in them to keep shooting well, especially from 3. Someone needs to guard that fairly big no. 44, who was knocking down 3's last night. Jois and Harvey are obviously very good. EWU has alot of good players. I like the Eastern team.

excellent analysis, player rep.

in any championship series or game, the winner almost always has an unheralded player that really steps up, a la eric hayes in the ucla game. for us, those players have been riley and your guy, kemp. kudos to both.

i'd bet a good bunch that the winner of this game faces gonzaga. i'm hoping they're a one and the big sky is a 16. i think either team has at least a shot against gonzaga. we're still looking for the first sixteen to take down a one in tourney history.

You guys have two close losses to currently ranked teams (Boise and Davidson) as well as a victory over one team that's already in the tournament (NDSU; two if Seattle wins tonight). Your SOS is excellent but the few bad losses may pull your seed down a bit. Ultimately a 15 seems very likely to me, but I wouldn't do a spit take if it was a 16 or 14 either.

We have that signature win over a likely at-large (IU) as well a close loss to UW and a decent showing at SMU. Maybe a win over the SWAC champ too. 14 seems about right for us, so the Gonzaga matchup seems more likely for EWU if we win tonight, while Griz would likely get Arizona or Wisconsin.

I think history has to play a part in seeding as well. With Montana's history of reaching the tournament, even though we've struggled the last few appearances, would warrant a 15 or 14. I don't see Montana getting a 16 if we win tonight for that reason.
