Sound System

Is it my imagination or was the sound system today worse than last weekend? I'm not a stereo geek but can it be that hard to fix a new system?

a couple commercials were the LOUDEST thing in Wash-Griz since the Rolling Stones. There was also some scratchiness, but it seemed to be fixed after halftime.

They must not be cranking it up as much as they did for the first game. It sounded pretty awesome during that game.

It was awful and often competed with the band. The referees' mikes were even worse to try to hear.

the worst was a break in the action and they played an intro to the student athlete of the week, a woman volleyball player, it was painful to hear. people all around me were commenting about how bad the sound was.

I'll sum it up quick. The new sound system SUCKS!. They need some techs in there to fix it... Loud and distorted at times, other times it is so soft and weak you can't hear it. The amps need to be fine tuned by a professional.

I though it was just me that thought the sound system was bad all the game, but i asked around. People around me said the "new" sound system was worse than the last one. Somebody with a good ear needs tune the sound. They paid for better than that.

Lol... A stadium PA/audio system of this magnitude and cost is almost ALWAYS fine-tuned upon installation by a specialist with the audio company. Given how it's gotten worse and worse over the course of the season (and typical of how UM officials operate in general, ie the new video board difficulties) I'd say it's been messed with in some manner since the installation.

I distinctly remember the concrete stands vibrating in the first game from the base sound

I agree. That was truly awful. Over the years, those student ones have often had bad sound. Too bad, cause I think most people like those.

On the upper east side ... north along about the 20 ... could not understand much of what was being said. Worst sound so far this season.

The sound system at WaGriz has sucked since the stadium opened in 1986.

You mean by them playing "Sweet Carolina", yes but is was fine last year.
No, it had some issues last year. There have ALWAYS been problems with understanding the refs.

I know, I know
I can't figure the refs out either.

Most stadiums I think even the nfl have trouble with on field communications. I go with what "way the arm goes" theory and find out later because god forbid they would show a replay.
