I think Coach Souers has done well with what he has to work with the last few years considering he's playing second fiddle in state to ASU/UofA/bigger west coast colleges and the absolutely horrible, bleeping fan support given from the Flagstaff community. Souers had quite a stretch of mediocre years, though. But I will give him and his staff credit where it is due the last two seasons. Senior dominated defense and Zach Bauman may have had something to do with that, though? They should at least be competitive next year.

His teams pretty consistently play hard, stay out of trouble and graduate. That seems to be what NAU administration values.

I'm neither thrilled nor despondent. It is what it is. It could possibly be better but I don't see a top of the line young FCS coordinator showing up to turn NAU into Alabama/Auburn/Oregon junior anytime soon. I also know it could be a lot worse just by looking around at a few of the other Big Sky Conference teams current situations.
