Completely forgot about this but the Utah State AD search is underway! Looks like they plan to have a short list of candidates in August. I have no idea if Haslam is a candidate or not and I’m not here to start rumors, but merrily point out that the search is currently active. Could any other AD’s be in the mix? Costello, Mark Orr at Sac State? It’ll be interesting to see how it shakes out!

Interesting piece of info there. Serious question, outside of $$, is that a very desirable job? Not being a smart arse. For me it is similar to Bobby leaving for Nevada. A step up theoretically, but not by much.

I know very little about the way that AD's plan their career. But I think that would be an interesting choice. Do you take (assumedly) more money for a school that competes in higher level conferences for football? Or stay at one that has these high expectations and huge engagement? And that is us or MSU, I'm not picking on Haslem or any other AD here. I think that would be an interesting conundrum as you are building your career.

A conundrum for sure! Haslam may also have ties to the area, which would make it more appealing. (I thought he did). I don’t envy anyone who is a head coach or an AD.

One of the most pressure filled jobs on earth outside of President. I will be completely honest, I wouldn't even want to be the AD or head coach at Missoula. Imagine trying to have a nice dinner with your family at the Montana Club or something. Not my jam.

I have little idea of his background, but getting close to home is a big deal.

I have now idea about any of his thought process or interest, but at least we are not boring heading into 2023 season!

I prefer making great money and remaining anonymous.

I could deal with the fans. It’s the refs/umpires i couldn’t handle.

Per GoGriz:
BYU grad. Masters NAU, fluent in Japanese, hire here in 2012. Lots of accomplishments here. Don't think he'll emphasize his hiring of coaches as part of his highlight reel. You all should read his bio on GoGriz.
The last USU AD made $542,500, FYI.

It’s a simple job in Bozeman. Turn the coaches loose with impunity, give ‘em all raises, and nobody in the media will ever ask you about it. All you have to do is invent a “policy” and you can fool everyone.

You absofuckinglutely take the big pay day when it’s in the table. You never know if you’ll get another one and things change. The whole LIV golf and PGA tour events just proved to us all the correct move in these situations.

Last year, $200,249.

He’s also LDS, with ties to the area, so it’s long been said it’s a dream job for him. Add in getting a 100+% raise and it would pretty much be a no brainer.

It would also be the best thing to happen to Griz athletics in quite some time. The dude is nice guy, but is a straight up pushover that lacks vision.

aka, Engstrom's tool, hand puppet, Pinocchio without a lying nose. Then, there's Stitt...
...and while I'm at it, I'll ask again, specifically, WHAT WAS THE PROBLEM WITH PERMITS ON THE 'BUBBLE?' Who, What, When, Where, Why, and How, Mr. Communicator? 8-)

Seems like they're getting it done in the classrooms and the athletic arenas.
