Wow, I have been to all of the same games over the years and have witnessed almost none of these same occurrences that all of you griz fans have reported. Yes, it is a crummy stadium and does not have the amenities that old, soft griz fans require. Once again egrizzies are victims. Seems to be a reccurring theme.

Wasn't there a very well-documented situation/altercation a while back in between Griz players and/or fans because they had to walk to the locker sheds through the EWU fans or something? I'm not being sarcastic, I just seem to remember something about it. I feel like the EWU administration even got involved. Can anyone help me out here?

The only negative altercation I remember was one young, drunk dumbshit Eagle fan who was talking trash to a Sam Houston State Player who could have turned the idiot fan inside out. It was in the area where the players are trying to get back to the locker rooms. I do not argue that was a bad situation and no athlete should have to put up with that.

That's the one! Thanks! As I recall, the administration employed the old, "We had no idea anything bad might happen with a student body made of drunk C-average HS students exiting the field elbow to elbow with visiting players" defense. It was a bold move, and it seems to have worked.

I think for the most part it does work. Most EAGS fans are quite easy going. If more of them had little-man's syndrome like PlayerRep then there would be more issues at the Inferno.

GEs above quote is the classless attitude displayed by the "more easy going" EWU fans.
EWU discourages UM fans from going to games in Cheney (Wa-Griz West Stadium).
With the young robust EWU fan base they are pleased and proud with their state of the art stadium that can be sold out when the Griz come to town.
Oh,sorry GE I forgot to mention the turf is red...no really red...get out of town...red?...what?... no really...red...really really red...what...get out of cheney your not welcome here red...what we are good and pleasant fan base red...I'm so mad locals won't come to games red...what?...it's red.

Montana fans can certainly come to the inferno. However, from the above posts it seems like the venue is not suitable for soft UM fans. I go to watch football. I don't require any additional luxuries.

Yep, crappy amenities for old, soft griz fans. I was once a young hard griz fan. Not a victim at all. You asked and I responded. Sorry you didn't like the answer. Pokey has it all over Cheney. :thumb:

This has nothing to do with "soft" Griz fans. I deal with meaner and uglier people than EWU fans every day, and I'll keep going to your pathetic stadium for games. I think EWU fans are obnoxious because almost no one in Spokane or thereabouts gives a crap about EWU, and it does your ilk no good to lash out at Coug fans. Face it. Even when WSU sucks and is winless, the Cougs get all of the attention. EWU could win ten national championships in a row and nobody would care -- winning one Apple Cup in one otherwise winless WSU season would be more important than ten EWU trophies. Your fans are jealous that the Griz matter in Montana (and other places) but nobody anywhere gives a sh*t about the Eagles (other than a few thousand fans in Cheney on a Saturday afternoon). I'll be over there next year to cheer the Griz, and expect to put up with EWU's perpetual inferiority complex. When the game is over, I'll come back to Montana and you'll get to listen all about the Cougs.

Ouch! Now you hurt my feelings you big mean griz fan.

To get back to the point. I suspect you don't recall how many Griz fans showed up to cheer EWU at the 1997 semifinal playoff game at Joe Albi against Youngstown State (or maybe you were just too soft to deal with the cold that day). I think about 8500 total showed up (big show of support for a semifinal game in a stadium that can hold 2-3 times as many), and at least several hundred were Griz fans there to cheer for the Big Sky conference team. But that was before EWU fans became such d*ckheads. Griz fans would not head west these days, but I would bet Griz fans would trek down to Pocatello to cheer for Idaho State.

And I note you ignored the obvious truth about EWU fans' inferiority complex because of the Cougs. Have fun with that. Also explains why the stands were empty when Youngstown State came to town and EWU needed Griz help to sell tickets.

Shoot - Don't hang around Cheney. Take the bus from Spokane. Fun town - great golf, good food especially at midnight at the Whiskey Den (Chicken and Waffles and single malt :thumb: )

Reminds me of my younger days when we all went to speakeasy's. :P

I live in Spokane. I find it comical the hate EWU fans have for Montana. I think their frustration is fueled by the fact that they could beat the Griz 100 times in a row and still will never have the respect in the Big Sky or locally that they want to feel adequate. I get it though and actually feel sorry for them all (not really). I'd be envious as well as having to spend my prime college years at that sorry excuse of a community. So next time you see an Eastern fan be kind they are sensitive and try to put yourself in their shoes...

A perfect example is the fact that Gonzaga Prep High School was donated a very large amount of money for weight rooms, locker rooms, etc. I'm sure Eastern athletes would be tickled to have what the prep student athletes have now. This community simply won't do that for Eastern and its hilarious.

another note... their student section is a bunch of light weights and could never hang with U of M's.

When the game is over you get to come back to Montana. They have to stay in Cheney. Game. Set. Match to the Griz.

I haven't been to a game at Woodward since 2006. Went to the one in 2004 where Saenz (I believe) blocked a FG that would've tied it for EWU with almost no time left. Both times were kind of meh in terms of EWU fans being douches. There were a few, but it was pretty tame compared to what I hear about now. After all, it was pre-2010, and FB hadn't been invented yet.

I've been to every Cats/Eags game for the past 15-16 years in Cheney and Joe Albi. Never once had a problem. Ever stop and think maybe you guys are the problem?

I find it interesting the types of responses I've gotten from egrizzies on this topic. The great griz fan base that disdains the existence of EWU in the BSC has used the word "Eastern" 19,995 times in the egriz football forum. For a regional university that you claim is so far beneath UM, egriz sure seems to be infatuated with the EAGS.

Adding on to that, it's part of the reason I think we, Idaho, and Montana State should be playing against teams like Wyoming, Utah State, and Nevada each year instead of Southern Utah and Northern Colorado. The Griz have a following. The Griz matter. Hell, the Bobcats matter in this state too and they matter a lot more than Eastern does. Someone might say, "Who cares if you matter in Montana? That's like being principal of a home school." Well, I'd rather matter somewhere than be completely insignificant in a so-called "important state."

GE I can't speak for anyone else, I am glad EWU exists and are in the Big Sky. I also congratulate you and the team you cheer for and the success they are having. EWU does get respect from several Griz fans a few even posted above watching EWU games
in Cheney post season in support of EWU being in the BS.
You also got some honest views of what opposing fans feel about attending games at EWU. ISU although they have not had the success on the field lately that EWU has, are better at hosting opposing fans. ISU and Pocatello are a better venue to watch a game, as a fan, than going to Cheney. Sorry you have a hard time understanding this. You mentioned facility and atmosphere don't matter to you, you go to watch football. Your university is listening to your view and your facilities show it. Sorry pointing this out hurts your feelings, as a aging soft fan I will attend games in Cheney in the future.
However the problem in Cheney isn't the inability to get Griz fans to games, EWU has difficulty getting their own fans to attend games. Nice to know EWU fans like yourself visit Egriz we probably get 10 to 12 more viewers with your young hip fan base.
