Some scenarios

Well...since there are 4 teams that could still win the Big Sky and the season is coming to a close soon it might be time to take a look at some tiebreaker scenarios involving Sac, Griz, EWU and NAU.

Now keep in mind I'm not going to discuss tiebreakers involving the Griz losing to the Cats. Not saying that isn't possible, it's just at that point I don't give a fuck about tiebreakers anymore since the Griz wont be involved in them :P

So what we have right now is:

Sac State 12-3
@PSU tonight (GO PSU!), @SUU (GO SUU!), @NAU (GO NAU!)

Montana 13-4
@MSU

EWU 12-4
@ISU, @Weber

NAU 11-4
@UNC tonight, PSU and Sac at home.

Head to head:

Sac:
1-0 against Montana
1-1 against EWU
1-0 (hopefully 1-1) against NAU

Montana:
0-1 against Sac
1-1 against EWU
1-0 against NAU

EWU:
1-1 against Sac
1-1 against EWU
0-1 against NAU

NAU:
0-1 (hopefully 1-1) against Sac
0-1 against Montana
1-0 against EWU

Some scenarios...

Griz, Sac and EWU all finish tied (Sac loses @NAU and the Griz and EWU win out):
Sac ends up hosting since they are 1-1 against EWU and 1-0 against the Griz (2-1 for the tiebreaker purpose). EWU is 2-2 (1-1 against the Griz and Sac) and the Griz would be 1-2.

Griz, EWU finish tied (Sac drops 2 games, @NAU and @one of the others)
If NAU finishes ahead of Sac (GO NAU) then the Griz host the tournament. If SAC finishes ahead of NAU then EWU hosts. Since the Griz and EWU would have split they'd look at how both teams did against the 3rd place team to determine the tiebreaker I think.

Griz, EWU and NAU finish tied (Sac drops 2 games, NAU, EWU and the Griz win out)
Griz are 2-1 for the tiebreaker purposes. NAU is 1-1. EWU is 1-2. Griz host.

Sac loses to NAU, but wins the next two games. EWU wins out, NAU wins out, Griz win out.
4 way tie... SAC, Griz, EWU, NAU.
Sac is 3-2 for the tiebreaker (1-1 against NAU, 1-1 against EWU, 1-0 against the Griz)
Griz are 2-2 for the tiebreaker (1-1 against EWU, 1-0 against NAU, 0-1 against Sac)
EWU is 2-3 for the tiebreaker (1-1 against the Griz, 1-1 against Sac, 0-1 against NAU)
NAU is 2-2 for the tiebreaker (1-1 against Sac, 0-1 against the Griz, 1-0 against EWU)
Sac hosts... I think.

EWU drops a game, Sac loses to NAU, NAU wins out.
Griz, Sac and NAU end up tied.
Griz are 1-1 for the tiebreaker
NAU is 1-2 for the tiebreaker
Sac is 2-1 for the tiebreaker
Sac hosts.

EWU drops a game, Sac loses 2, NAU wins out.
Griz and NAU are tied. Griz are 1-0 against NAU, Griz host.

So we need to take care of business against the Cats and hope that Sac drops 2 of their last 3 on the road including to NAU. EWU dropping a game would be nice too and then would make it OK if Sac dropped 2 but beat NAU.

I'm sure I've missed some scenarios, and if I've made a mistake on one (or more) feel free to point it out! Figured I'd get the discussion of the tiebreakers going while waiting for the Sac vs PSU game to start (GO PSU!).

Go PSU!

Let's start there!

Agreed! Going to be watching that game tonight. Hope PSU can defend their home court. Sac is pretty much in control of their own destiny at this point but with 3 road games left... who knows. Them starting things off by dropping a game against PSU would be nice!

I bet Sac drops 2 of 3. I have a strong feeling we'll be watching two championships in Missoula! :thumb:
