Some Positivty up in here

I don't know if it's justified, but I don't think anybody will have to worry about a lack of positivity in the next 8 mos. (except for the well-known doomsayer posters). Every additional recruit will have a highlight film showing him to be Pro Bowl ready, BW will continue his excellent reporting on Spring drills, and we will take every positive observation as evidence that we are ready to take on the Cowboys. Every team is optimistic before the first snap, and that's how it should be. Even teams that went 0-11 the previous year convince themselves that it's a positive to have lots of returning players! Then the season will begin and we'll see.
Officially, it used to be called "Bobcat Nation." Now, it is a small sub-set of Griz Nation that has morphed into Bobcat Nation and sounds identical. Another couple of months of superlatives, hyperbole and self-gratification, and we will have won the pre-season championships.

Here's some positive news you guys, that "lad", you guys affectionately dubbed black jesus is returnin to Bozeman. DMAC returns! Fvck the griz! Fear the Cats!

Can he kick?

I agree wholeheartedly. We can always focus on the negatives but there is much more to be positive about. The 2016 recruiting class looks to be good and are ready to breakout and climb up the depth chart in Spring Camp. Coach Stitt has added several promising transfers to the program and all returning players have had a full year or two under the new regime. We've even got off to a quick start with the 2017 recruiting class. Academic performance among student-athletes is at an all-time high, thanks in large part to the brand new Academic Center. The now-under-construction Champions Center will be a massive game changer for Grizzly Athletics for decades to come. Washington-Grizzly Stadium has been and will always be the premier small-college stadium in the nation and our best recruiting tool. The UM football program has everything it needs to be successful - top-notch facilities, quality leadership and coaching, outstanding student-athletes and the best fan base in all of the FCS landscape. I believe the Griz are on the cusp of another long run of success. GO GRIZ!

It's a low bar to be a hero at Bozeman State. Led his #1 ranked Cats to a 10-36 loss to the Griz in 2011.

Not sure but I don't think he was that great in playoff games either.

Oh boo fucking hoo!

Another uplifting holiday message from the eGriz version of Old Man Potter.

Bob Stitt will be the coach of the 2017 Grizzly football team.
There's not one fucking thing you can do about it.

For years I’ve been reading this board, but the time has come to finally get off my ass and comment on the soul crushing negativity around here. That said, everyone on here bashing Stitt and the players need to dial it the f*** down.
We’re picking off Mountain West recruits, and we should be - outside of maybe Boise St, I can’t think of any G5 school that has anything over the Griz. We’ve got Buss. We’ve got JLM. We’ve got great looking young talent. We’ve got coaches and players hungry to prove themselves after some embarrassing losses this year. We have an offense and a defense that have both shown flashes of brilliance. We’ll probably see some more growing pains next year, but this is Montana, and the Griz reside in the best town in the best state in the union.

Go Griz!
Happy Solstice, and Good Yule!

I was loving  your post RJ, until you got to the latter comments about coaches and players hungry to prove themselves (recalling - opening minutes at NAU and No. Colorado) and you mention Buss and JLM (Stitt recruited them? I don't recall that). Maybe I misunderstood your message. :geek: :?:

There's not one f***[*] thing you can do about it.

Spoken like a true enfant terrible. Did you stamp your feet when you wrote that?

My predictions about Stitt have been quite different than yours, that's for sure. Odd that mine were so much more prescient than yours. It pisses you off no end.

Of course, I did not expect Bob Stitt to cooperate so fully in my "agenda." Obviously you didn't. You did not have a clue that the meltdown could have happened. You blinded yourself.

I am sure he will be here next year. I am sure that the longer you can extend the pain of this program, the happier you will be. It will prove something to yourself. I'm not a believer in protecting "sunk costs." I think this one is a sunk cost. We can disagree, and you may even be wrong again, likely so, but I doubt you are man enough to ever admit it.

I hope Stitt does incredibly well; but I also think it is wishful thinking. I would love to be wrong on this point, but I haven't been so far. To see a team and players go down in flames to the "worst team in the Big Sky" is something you not only accept, you start speaking like it didn't happen. Losers make excuses. "If" is for children.

i'm pretty sure this post is a form of what is called 'projecting' in psychology books.

I realize this year was not great, but I still have a ton of faith in this team and coaches. I think the talent level brought in the last couple years is great and the new champions center will be a big thing to current players and future recruits.

I realize some on here want Stitt gone and think he can't be successful at this level and that is fine, I will agree to disagree. I really just hope that as spring ball and fall ball start that every positive report from camp is not met with negative coach bashing. This is a huge year for Stitt and Co if they have a good year he will be here awhile if not we could be coach searching. Either way I'm tired of hearing how certain posters have known all along how Stitt would fail.

Agreed. Stitt could fart wrong and a select few would say it doesn't smell right.

And some of us got tired last season of hearing how "phenomenal" Stitt was at Mines, that he was an "offensive genius," a "mad scientist" and repeatedly how his offensive prowess was going to turn Montana around.

1. Griz- We got another year under Stitt's system, hes got HIS guy at D coordinator. Talented roster, lots of battle tested kids returning.

Continuity, depth at QB, depth in general, running backs, -gregorak, Justin Strong.

And brain dead.
Holy smokes, eGriz started to sound exactly like Bobcat Nation, and woe to anyone that dared challenge these geniuses. We had ANOTHER year under Stitt's system, we had HIS guy at D Coordinator, we had talented, battle-tested kids! Depth everywhere! Continuity! Gregorak was gone!

Now, same bunch: we were young. No continuity. Delaney's recruits. Untested kids. No depth. Lack of experience. We had his guy at D coordinator  .

Yeah, some of us get tired allright, of constant hyperbole, constant inability to recognize reality, of mindless delusion, and repeatedly of hearing the people always wrong always being wrong, usually in the loudest possible voice.

But, you don't get that, do you? You're tired, but some of us are tired of the constant misrepresentations of this coach, the constant elevation of his supposed skills above anything he has ever actually done, and the overtly personal antagonism when these people are called on it, on the basis of the abject failure of their own predictions. I'm tired of hearing how great he is, when guys like you can't seem to explain how or why, and when you do make a hyperbolic prediction, it is almost invariably wrong.

Some of us want to see this team succeed, and get better with each passing year; that these kids get the most positive experiences possible while at the University of Montana, have the support of their coaches, not their condescension, and have coaches that want to win, not blame.

Some of us, who believe in sports, know what it means when you see the players virtually give up on the field, we know what it means when the coach himself feels the need to berate the team publicly for a "lack of fire," that he gripes that it's been an ongoing problem for this team, and that he hopes "some of these guys get it" with continuing losses.

We know what it means when the Griz lose to the worst team in the conference, to a first year coach and a teenage quarterback, in our "own house." And we are tired of your excuses for it.

Perhaps you are "tired" of the wrong things.

all that comes to mind is "histrionic squirrel".

I always wonder what Payton will do with obvious trolling, thread after thread, poster after poster.

Oh wait, silly me. It's his whole purpose here. Chris is so proud!

UMGriz75 I hate to be the bearer of bad news but your obsession with Stitt is highly disturbing. I would suggest a vacation or a visit to your doctuh, as they say around heah. It is not natural to repeat over and over and over what you feel when, all you have to do, is think of other things. I enjoyed your posts once, now I tend to pass over them. It is old. Sorry. Merry Christmas!

Did I forget to include, next season will be our best season ever? The ten thousand times that you've read it on this threads? The purpose of this thread?

Does that make it better?

Does that make it a "win" over the Cats?

Nobody has said that next season will be "our best season ever". Not one person. Thanks for ruining another thread with your troubling obsession...

No one know if it will be or not. but I would be thrilled if it was, and I assume you would, as well. Time to stop beating the dead horse. UM has more issues than a foot ball coach, who, it seems to me, is doing some good things while learning others. Frankly I don't tend to care about whether UM beats MSU, as I would rather see Idaho back in the role of biggest rival. the um msu thing is more Montana residents than other alumni. The overall record is not one to boast about from either school. So lopsided it is embarrassing to be called a rivalry.
