My 11 year old struck out 3 of the 4 batters she faced last night!
not insane, but hope she's good enough to be a lady Griz some day!
Love it! That's the good stuff. I have an 11 year old as well. She's playing her first year of travel ball (big girl ball as opposed to rec). First tourney this weekend. Not sure who is more excited
   Awesome work gentlemen!!!
11 year old girls travel softball! Wow!!
Like most youth sports, this is the year some lucky 11 year old girls will make "the break" from lowly rec ball.
Of course travel involves all the costs of travel so little Sue down the street who's kind of interested in softball, very athletic and has enjoyed rec ball won't be making the trips. Her folks aren't as interested as Hooked on Griz to spend that kind of time and money traveling to 11 year old girls softball tourneys this summer. They like to camp and boat a bit.
Little Sally on the other hand is super into sports and Sally's in love with softball. Also a good athlete and destined to become even more so as she matures. Her folks don't have the kind of money to spend on travel trips...especially when she's only 11. She'll try lowly rec ball again this summer but is very disappointed to be losing some of her friends to travel ball and embarrassed to realize her parents can't afford what some of here friends can.
Anyone remember when kids used to go to the nearest softball or baseball field, pick some teams and play ball all day long? No umps...maybe not even 9 players per term, pitcher's hand for outs to save having a first baseman, no catcher's gear for the catcher. I know several guys who played pro baseball and one who played in the major leagues and outside of Little League this is the baseball that was played back in their day.
Sally and Sue would have joined this pick up game most days and maybe developed into Lady Griz players someday. In today's world Sally and Sue's softball careers end this weekend.
11 year old girls travel softball??
