So you're saying there's a chance?!?!

It happens in all conferences, poor teams beating good ones. Sometimes the round ball bounces like it isn't. If UM and ewoo met 10 times the Griz will win 9 of them. They have superior talent at every spot on the floor. But, shit happens.

The difference is that in the BSC, there is literally no margin for error. Only one team is getting in. So when a good team gets beat by a shitty one, it's a death knell.

SUre hope Bietlze and co enjoy the gifts (all 30 of them) it was like watching a game at the Smith Spectrum

And ISU was the home team to.

If they met 10 times UM would win 9? Are you kidding me? They have split their last four. I would actually say that UM wins 6 out of 10. I don't buy it. I suppose there are teams at the top of the conference that will lose to bottom dwellers, but I don't think it is as common as you would suggest, perhaps 5% of the time. We never lose to CSUS but that is about it.

BSB, you are one odd dude. Clearly, you're on the crazy train. And it's making ALL the stops....

I'm crazy? You think 984 is close to 1,800. Btw, we sold out our last home game with over 2,700. I know it's not what close to what the Griz show, just have some respect for your fellow conference members.

Respect for fellow conference members!!!

The foul difference was 32-28. Not much of one.

CSUS???? Who's that?

Sour grapes on my part. Congrats to NC. Now for frequent fliers, thats even better than bonus miles....
For NC, When UM plays you for all the rollers I'll be in "damned if I know" watching da tube. An impassioned defense of the Griz (yes, you read that right) Which item do you think has the most federal taxes and fees attached to it:
1. a can of budweiser
2. a carton of Marlborow Reds
3. a Smith and Wesson Centennial revolver
4. a round trip ticket from Msla to NC
If you guessed the beer, cigarettes or gun, you'd be wrong :x
5% for beer,18% for cigs and 10% for the gun. Lousy 20% for the flight. I HATE taxes. But it is way to far for this fair weather fan to drive so...Sorry for the rant but we were coming down from BC to watch in Msla. So, sour grapes on my part. Go da Griz. :thumb:

How many actuall baskets did UNC make in the last 10 minutes that werent free throws? 1 or was it 2? UNC (or should I say Beitzle lived at the free throw line in the second half, UNC was in the double bonus with 8 minutes to go in the first half and second half.

Beitzal knows how to get to the free throw line. That's what good players do. They get to the free throw line.

As for refereeing, more calls went UNC's way.

As for the BSC tournament, who cares who says what here. Get Greeley ready to host the thing. How they get that thing to 5k is beyond me. If it is a UNC/Montana or Weber State final, they better be prepared to have a back up plan.

Then again, if the host team chokes again, once again the championship will look very bad on TV. Moving conferences would surely help GRIZ basketball. I pray the Championship game has a good showing.

Lunardi has Northern Colorado in the 16 v 16 play in game. It drives me nuts that East Coast teams always get higher seeds without playing better teams. Vermont is projected at a 14 seed. I've looked at their schedule and they haven't beat anyone significant, but yet are a 14. Even though UM might not win the tourney, having them at a 16 seed is ludicrous if they did. They have beaten Idaho twice, UCLA, OSU, and CSF twice. Boggles my mind how that is deserving a 16 seed and Vermont gets a 14.

I'm sorry...I must have mistaken the basketball forum for the football forum. My bad. Come on hoops forum...I expect so much more from you.

Yup, respect for those four "lesser" conference foes that beat the Griz in hoops this season. Oh, the horror and shame. Moving up to the WAC or MWC should clear things right up.

Northern Colorado or Weber State deserve to host strictly for winning when they absolutely had to. That doesn't mean that the Bears or Wildcats are better overall teams, either. The Griz are a good but flawed team who have struggled with perimeter shooting and a lot of youth. Two wins vs. the Pac-10 and 20 total wins are more than commendable but they are not playing their best hoops at the conclusion.

bigskybare, I think NCU is a mid sized discount (whisky) store in Libya.
No dictator in UNC. However I refer it as NC? Wrong? :thumb: :?:

NC is cool, NoCo is cool, UNC is the best but I'll take any of the three. NOT NCU. We've never been called that.

Really I don't think there is a lot of disrespect meant towards the BB teams out there. The Griz haven't dominated the conference like they had in football. NAU and Weber are typically right near the top of the Big Sky. UNC has been very good lately, and PSU went through a stretch where they were very good.

A step up to the WAC (or better yet MWC) would be a step upward though for BB. I don't think anyone could argue that :) The WAC is a much more highly thought of conference for BB than the Big Sky is unfortunately. So we can always hope can't we? If NAU was thinking about moving to the WAC or MWC, I'm guessing you'd be pretty stoked about how that'd help the BB program.

I do also agree that the Griz aren't playing their best hoops at the end of the season. That's very worrisome. Last year though the Griz finished losing 2 of their last 3...one to EWU on the road, and one to the Cats at home (we were a 4 seed in the tourney).

I could see any of the top 4 teams in the tournament winning it all. Weber is incredibly hot and playing great lately. UNC most likely will have home court advantage (unless they choke against Sac). The Griz, if they play like they are capable of, can be very impressive. And, as always NAU can shoot lights out and play with the best of them. The 5 and the 6 seed.. I don't see as doing much. The Cats haven't done much at all on the road this year, and have really played like crap lately... EWU doesn't do well on the road either, and has difficulty finishing off opponents when they do manage to take the lead.
