So, what about "Coach Sixx" now?

Can the guy recruit? If he can’t - the Cats are in trouble. As AZ pointed out, not his recruits and rumors are he has low energy at summer camps and in the locker room.

How much credit Vigen should get, I don’t know but I do think the Cats have some new energy and confidence with the QB change. If Mellott keeps doing what he is doing the Cats have a pretty good chance of winning this weekend. Hope they do.

I agree and when they win just wait for the people saying SDSU is not very good...I think Cats got a very good coach and will have no issues recruiting, pretty sure he already has some pretty nice committs

Will be an interesting game this weekend. Hopefully the kitties can catch the Jackrabbits!

Cats have the home advantage and have the shift in momentum ...Vigens been involved with some great programs so people
in my opinion that talk him down might have to eat their words..SDSU is a good physical team but they are going to run into
a highly motivated team with Mellot with lots of energy...I'm hearing a full house on Saturday..Vigen knows exactly what he's
doing..great hire!

I think the place will start to recruit itself. The guy has pretty good connections to Wyoming and ndsu to recruit in the Midwest. He made a huge move by starting Mellot and it worked. The guy has at least 3-4 qbs in the nfl, that sells. The guy has done a really good job taking them to the semis again with a new qb. I wonder how long he will stay before he gets a wac or mountain west job.

one think Vigen has shown over the years is pretty good loyalty. He was in NDSU for something like 15 years and Wyoming for 6 or 7 years so does not seem like the kind of personality always looking for the shiny penny.

SDSU is a very good team. If they beat them I think it shuts up a lot of the naysayers. If they don’t (as I expect) it’ll be same shit, different day.

If he beats SDSU, I'll be pretty impressed, but let's not act like everything didn't line up for them in this bracket. SHSU looked small and slow last night and certainly wasn't deserving of the 1-seed. Losing to us, jettisoning their dogshit QB and getting the 8-seed was the best thing that could have happened for them. ;)

Here's a thought. MSU played exactly one bad game this year; be happy it wasn't the week before Cat griz. I agree, the Vigen is as they say the real deal. He should be - look at the resume. MSU lucked out when he signed the contract. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. MSU is both.

I would argue that MSU played a bad game against Idaho.

Bear Spray, I agree that you’re not a typical Bobcat troll (of which there are many who have found it inexplicably necessary to somehow attempt to spike a ball after a game in which the Griz didn’t play). We can go back and wonder what would’ve happened if Cat/Griz was played on a different day all we want, but it wasn’t. On that day, the Griz absolutely curbstomped the Bobcats, and that was the day the game was played.

Now, the Bobcats are in a position of extreme good fortune. They host a semifinal game for the first time in who knows how long. Let’s see if Sixx has the khakis to get it done.

Are you saying like the Cats curbstomped the Griz in 2019?

Yeah, I think that outcome is very relevant in assessing the upcoming 2021 semifinal game. In 2002, the Cats won in Missoula like 5-2, so I’m also focused on that game when I check out the matchup the Bobcats have against the Rabs.

Winning is the same as losing for a new coach. You want to wait 3 years to see how his recruits and his style really are playing out. He’s done a great job with the talent that they have in Bozeman. He’s not going to run the offense they have now in the long term. If he can keep this winning up over the next few years…I’ll be impressed. Right now he’s done a great job. Can’t fault a guy for inheriting amazing talent and a great roster

For my own enjoyment I would like to see Sixx pull off four or five 10 win seasons in a row with losses to the Griz each year.

We could see if the Ron Ash Effect can be replicated.

 They’d not be able to put a finger on the problem, but it would be about culture and trajectory. It would have nothing to do with the Griz. Nothing at all.

guy seems pretty classy and I think he will be good for the cats program. I could not stand Choate and to be honest it is hard not to like Vigen. I always thought it was stupid to refer to him as sixx. I think the next game will be tell tale on how he prepares the game plan for Mellott. Not sure who watched the Bills game today but watching Josh Allen who Vigen coached you know he did something right.

Agreed. Choach was a world class doosh. It's hard not to like Vigen a little bit. I mean, look at his presser skills! :D

Maybe dullard cat & griz fans subscribe to that thought but the MSU administration doesn’t. Choate was hired to change culture and build a team capable of beating the Griz and competing for national titles. Beating the Griz first. You never know how a new coach will do - insert Stitt here. I like the Vigen. I like the adjustments he made. SDSU is a big physical team. I picked them on this side of the bracket, JMU on the other side. I hope I’m wrong with both!

It’s a good thing Waded and Elvis don’t prioritize conference championships or dual threat QBs. :

You’re had neither since Ron Ash was relieved of his duties. :thumb:

When was your last BSC championship?

The Cats didn’t play “a bad game” against the Griz. The Griz flat out kicked their ass and that’s why it looked so bad. The “bad game” excuse is almost always due to the other team making them “play bad”.

Yes, The Cats flat out kicked the Griz ass in 2019. The Griz made the same bad game excuse. I guess it is a pretty normal response when you get your butt kicked.
