So Appy State and Georgia Southern to Sun Belt

MrTitleist said:
Not to mention that an AppSt team that was undefeated and finished in the top 4 would have access to the playoff (that is until everyone comes to their senses and realize that an 8-16 team playoff would bring in HUGE $$$$$). Being in the middle group gives them that chance (no matter how small of a chance there is). There's still A LOT of money to be made in FBS football. Can't say the same for FCS football where money is getting smaller and appearances on national broadcasts are getting smaller as the FBS conferences seal up any remaining spots on the networks to get their games on TV. Even now the FCS chipper has been sent to ESPN2 in the middle of a Saturday.

The stuff that dreams are made of-ain't going to happen.

If we move up we will never win a national championship in anything. Just sayin'

If a team from the Sun Belt wins a championship, does anyone see it?

No. Because it has and never will happen...

I do -I can actually afford to go to the chipper- the heck with anyone else.
If you can afford it would it kill you to become a supporter of e-griz? $40-50 bucks a year doesn't sound like it would hurt a big shot like you.

Just sayin'

Upper echelon teams leaving for the FBS will only hurt the FCS or eventually kill it. Sad news is those leaving for greener pastures or at least bigger pastures will not nor ever be on the big stage. They will be lost in the middle forever.

I have news for you. Other than about 15 teams, they are all lost in the middle. The landscape of FBS football has changed forever. Even the PAC 12 is lost in the middle!
Tell that to Oregon.
And Stanford, and UCLA and Oregon State. The PAC 12 was the 2nd best conference in college football last year. Not sure what this guy is talking about

My point is this, the SEC has won the last six national title games. Certainly USC, Oregon and Stanford from the Pac 12 are part of the BCS mix but the rest of the conference is out if the picture at this point. Maybe you throw in a couple teams each from the Big 12 and the Big 10 and that's your BCS competitors. The rest of the FBS teams are just "going thru the motions".
That's the reality of D-1A football.

Isn't that the reality for half the FCS as well? half don't offer very many scholarships and will never compete, and another chunk never get into the playoffs. not much difference

It's also the "reality" for all of the SEC outside of Alabama, LSU and maybe Auburn. The rest of THAT conference is just "going through the motions" as well.

Thx Urban Meyer. 'Bama may may not lose for a while. Although A&M looks nice.

Auburn was good for one season, because of one player....they are trash, lots of better programs in the SEC than Auburn

Egriz is great!

Egriz sponsorship is great! First Chris comes to your home and teaches you the secret handshake and then you are entered into a drawing to win a dream date with Brint.

Don't buy it.. Brint makes you pay then doesn't even put out at the end. :(

Typical realtor

so back on topic. if, what some may call the Griz's 2nd biggest rival and east coast equivalent - app state, go to FBS, are the Griz still going to be content in staying little league? Or are people finally going to admit/realize its time to move on?

IMO I think if we took a WAC invite we'd be in the MWC by now. But that ship has sailed. What's the new plan?

Not to mention Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Texas A&M , and every now and then Arkansas.

I think the more likely reality is that the FBS will further subdivide into BCS with a possible couple of hanger-on conferences and non-auto conferences. The full-schollie FCS level will likely merge with the non-auto remaining conferences and form a third level. This has already been discussed many times, ask your AD. I guarantee the WAC would piss themselves if Eastern announced they wanted to make a move, and Eastern is light-years away from being a legitimate FBS prospect institution. My point in mentioning that is this... how desirable is just "moving up" if that's where you get stuck?
