Sneed to Sammy

Seem to have a really good thing going. Sammy has had 4 straight games with 2 TDs and more than 75 receiving yards. He is now at 12 TDs which is tops in the Big Sky and is among the top nationally. Sammy has 53 catches for 732 yards averaging 13.8 yards per catch. We should have ourselves an all conference stud receiver as a sophomore.

Dalton has had a lot of discussion and comparisons on here, but that kid has stepped up his game and is performing among all the best in the Big Sky. Right now he is in the top 3 in a lot of categories only trailing Gueller and Maier in most passing stats. Sneed is 219-350 (62.6%) for 2369 yards and 20 TDs to 7 INTs. Those are very strong numbers, I’d say good enough for BigSky Newcomer of the Year.

Perhaps it is just my perception, but it looks to me like someone must have REALLY worked with Sneed concerning his "touch" on the longer passes. Up until the last two games, seemed like everything over about 15-20 yards had a rocket attached, and it was set for 10 yards over the receiver. The last two games, ALMOST without exception, he seems to have had very nice "touch" on them, dropping them either in close enough so the receivers can at least make a play on them, or hitting them dead on. :clap:

Much easier to have touch when you have time. If you watch Sneed, how often is he not pressured right before he passes. Most of his passes are on the run with someone right behind him. Pressure is the key to any quarterback having a bad day. That's why in warmups everyone looks very good.

I've been critical of Sneed. I stand corrected. He played great and made some very nice throws. I hope he can play in the cold.

Definitely aware of the the importance of touch on this passes. Also, a huge improvement in keeping his eyes up field while he is scrambling. Prior to the last few games, he was running more than scrambling, and just took off, with his head down. He missed a lot of open guys earlier this season.

I posted awhile back, I felt our QB's and WR's needed to learn how to work together in throwing the ball up for our bigger WR's to test their abilities. Akem is the 1st of the WR's that Sneed has that kind of chemistry with. Next step, to develop that with Toure and our TE's. Then, have our WRs learn how to work from the slot to better take advantage of LB's and Safeties, to create mismatches. EWU's offense have done these things for a long while now, despite who their QB and WR's are. The GRIZ have the talent to build that withing out program too.

With the Cats personnel, I start experimenting the mismatch concepts against them. Their LB's are susceptible in pass coverage. Way to go Sammy, keep it up. #nflupside
