Junior quarterback Dalton Sneed looked crisp during Saturday's practice, picking up from where he left off during spring.

Early in the practice, Sneed threaded a needle on a 20-plus yard dig route to Jerry Louie-McGee who made a diving grab in the end zone surrounded by defenders.

Signal Callers

After emerging as the No. 1 QB at the conclusion of spring ball, junior Dalton Sneed has continued to lead the charge for the Griz, despite competition from new arrivals over the summer.

He looked crisp again on Sunday, throwing a nice 10-yard fade to Samuel Akem in the corner of the end zone for a good-looking score.

Sneed has looked the most consistent overall during the first week of camp, as one would expect as the other QBs take on an unfamiliar playbook. But after five practices to take it all it, Hauck says he likes what he sees from the entire group.

"Like I said at the start, Sneed has been ahead, and he should be. If he isn't, then he hasn't been paying attention or working, and that's certainly not who he is. He's an attention to detail guy. He's doing a good job," said Hauck.

"Cam Humphrey has done a good job picking it up. He throws a nice ball. He's got a good arm, and he's a competitive guy. One of the guys I would say has probably made more improvement than anybody on the team at his position, or possibly in that group anyway, is Wils (Tanner Wilson). He's just done a nice job."

I think Wilson may be a future stud at QB. I realize that he was only a Class B high school QB. Doesn't matter if he can play. Look a Gubrud. He came from a very small Oregon high school.

Polson is class A. Wilson was rated # 10 player in the state when he graduated. All state QB and all state Safety. Vim remarked he was the hardest hitter in the state his Sr. yr. Stitt at first recruited him as a safety but after seeing him in the all star games wanted him as a QB. Coaches kid who will be a player.

Please don’t take our Polson love and give it to OR. Go Pirates!

Tanner really improved as a QB during his senior season. Has some "gun-slinger" in him and a great athlete to boot.

Most improved? I guess I don't know what this means exactly since he hasn't ever played in a college game.

You must have missed the quote from Bobby that they are referring to above, where he said Wilson has improved the most this week as far as the quarterback room goes

I listened to this quote live from Riley's latest camp update video. At the time I couldn't make out the "Wils" clearly to understand what Bobby was saying. His comment basically was that Tanner has improved as much as anybody at any position since the beginning of camp.

Are you thinking of Garrett Graves? He fits that bill.

No, I just forgot that Polson was a Class A school, not that there is that much difference between A & B. Bottom line is, if a kid can play, it does not matter what class he played in high school. We have had kids from Havre, Hardin, Troy, Baker, Drummond, and Colstrip good enough to play in the NFL.

that northwest corner of Montana is like western Pa. ...a qb hot bed....i understand the Graves kid really is a bright qb prospect.....vim....who is the better qb slash athlete... has a higher ceiling in your opinion ?
probably not a fair question, i just like both of them.

Wilson throws a better ball. Graves is better athlete/leader. I think you’ll see Graves rise to the top in another year or two. Very tough competitor, mentally and physically. Wilson is a great athlete as well. We have some great future ahead of us! Go Griz!
