Smithwick-Hahn or McKinney

McKinney cannot handle the passing game. S-H has a very logn and deliberate throwing motion. Choosing between the 2, I would go forward with S-H.

But I hope we have a better option....

Depends on the offense moving forward.

SSH threw for big yards but given time to prepare for him I'd wonder if defenses would attack him with blitzes as he's got a slow release and not a very fast/hard through. However if it's going to be more spread out/pass-heavy with 4 wide then yeah Shay is our guy.

Trent has shown that he can run and manage the spread/run offense well. If that's the plan then plug him back in, as Shay isn't quick/shifty enough to be an effective QB keeping the ball and running it.

I will say, however, that I think another option of a more balanced passer and runner is Brzczeck - I'm not sure why he's still not even an option. I can only guess a lack of knowledge of the system...

Oh just stop with the 'spread option' garbage, we don't have the personnel or coaching staff to run it like Oregon, we look like just another hack copy job of the real thing along with all the other hack jobs. Put a real QB or as close as we got to one on the field, send the receivers out and throw them the damn ball. When the D stops stacking the box run some draws. McKinney might come along, might not, he's a good athelete and should be able to play corner or receiver. So should Kemp for that matter.

AB is the guy to run the spread and he would be better than JJ if he gets the chance.

Why are yall talking about qbs.. Griz lose games bevause of their defense. It doesn't matter if the offense makes any changes at all. Defense is ugly as it gets.

JJ might not come back. This is what we've got.

I was always taught that when a team that shows up running that ball, they weren't confident in their QB. Take out the general and you win the battle.

Hard to believe that a kid with grades to get into Stanford and make the team couldn't pick up this playbook.

Exactly. Someone posted that he was in Booger's doghouse. Even better reason to like him.

Ok, I'm confused. Are you sayin that he isn't gettin any time on the field is because he don't understand what is going on??
No, BWallberg speculated that lack of understanding the system could be a reason he's not playing. I think it must be something else cuz he ain't dumb if he played at Stanford.

The backup QB is always the best player on the team.

I have not seen AB play or even practice. I used to think McKinney had poise, but now I think he is in over his head and I mistaked his deer in the headlike look for poise. Going into the season, I felt Smithwick-Hann had the better ability to lead our team, but I bought into what everyone was saying in practice. Again, I have not seen AB play or practice, but shouldn't we start developing players for next year? If so, I would think that AB is a better option than what we have right now. Hell, I would even be in favor of burning Gustafson's redshirt over what I have seen so far. This season is lost. I truly believe that the offseason issues are definitely weighing more on this team than we hoped they would. But really, how can it not. Even without the JJ, Donaldson, and Pflu issues, we lost a ton of seniors and both coordinators. We were going to learn on the go this year. Time to get the young guys as many reps as possible. Time to build depth and go for the future.

I don't think the "off-field issues" have much of anything to do with what is happening with the 2012 team ... except, of course, for the fact that the Griz are missing JJ.

And McKinney has a quick release? After what I saw today, I say start SSH. Brzczeck is an unknown quantity and people are just speculating. SSH had a (relatively) great game and hit a variety of receivers including ones that have been grossly underutilized this year.

I'm going to have to Youtube the video on Mr. Counts. It seems this board has annointed the young man the next Lex when 99.9% of us have never even seem him touch a football. I'll go with giving Kirschner a full game under his belt before I put JC ahead of him. I think he at least deserves that much. I was IMPRESSED with Kirschner's short stint at Northern Colorado with quickness, moves AND power.

Hope this helps. I'd give Counts a legitemate opportunity, and a full game under his belt then decide. This late in the season and pulling Counts' redshirt (for why/what???), heck let them both have at it at RB and blocking for eachother - they may very well make a great combination and fire the team up a bit! (that would mean Nguyen and Canada would get less reps - maybe this would push their games up athletically as well). BTW, interesting to note from Counts' videos, he can perform on special teams and defense too..possible safety for the Griz? Overall, believe this team has talent and very possible in light of events before the season and the crisis mode the program seems to be in, that the players' abilities and positional talents have not been fully reccognized and/or utilized for the best of the team's performance as a whole. Still have faith in the Griz!

Already watched the Youtube several hours ago. Looks like a bowling ball with decent speed and a good nose for the seams. However, we already have two of them on the team. I'm glad to see he's a Griz... but I was perplexed to read that NAU wouldn't even give him a sniff, and South Dakota St. was the only other offer. Evidently he didn't impress that many people his senior year. What's irritating to me, is having a stud wear a red-shirt for over half the season, then burning it for NOTHING, tells me the intellectual power of those running a program. :(
