Small successes from the UW loss

Did anyone else find Stitt's comments in the paper this morning a little odd? I swear there was a prior article, maybe spring-ish, where he said something to the effect that the Griz cannot focus on just the big games and need to treat all games the same. But today's paper had him already talking about the EWU game and he said everything they do is to prepare for them. Found that weird is all

He's all over the board, and somewhat delusional with some of his comments. To ignore that score and come out and say he's happy with the offense and to keep talking about how you did "some good things"? Not even being a dick here but if I were a griz fan I'd much rather he said he was pissed off about how lopsided the game was and was going to immediately go to work fixing all the things that went wrong.

All his talk about how now this team is all of a sudden playing for each other, singing kumbaya, and sticking together, is just that. Talk. You guys won't really know where you're at until about 6 games in.
Thanks for once again coming here to remind us of your opinions of our coach. Trust me, we already know where you stand.

If you were a Griz fan and had that opinion after the UW game, you'd be just as dumb as all the others whining about it.

Thankfully you're just a dumb cat fan, so it's all good. :thumb:

I'm just an observer. This is how a presser should be done after a loss.

The expectations of our coaches is very very different. Stitt goes 8-5 in his first year, beats NDSU, EWU, and MSU and wins a playoff game against SDSU before hitting the buzz saw NDSU....and our fan base is pissed and wants him gone.

Your coach goes 4-7 and gets completely out coached and makes terrible decisions in many of those games, including your most recent game against SDSU where he was completely fooled on a fake FG, and you guys love him. In the land of rainbows and butterflies all is good all the time. Choate would have been strung up to dry here on Egriz.

I went to the game and found their fans very welcoming. We sailgated for a bit and then tailgated. Sailgating was a great experience but I like drinking on land. Once we got to their main tailgate area we were welcomed. Had some amazing food and great conversation. Had pretty good seats and then sat in the box, for 2nd half, with Kane Ioane's fiance.

I'm honestly amazed we couldn't at least score 1 or 2 offensive touchdowns. I know Washington is far superior but I figured we would have a few more plays like JLM's that got called back. Hard to tell how our defense was just because UW was so damn fast and big. Few plays they just made us look silly. My one big complaint, and it won't change, is doing a zone read run play when we need 1 yard (or on one occasion where we needed 4 yards). Their d-line is too big and fast for us to make that work.

Was a great experience, but damn was UW good.

Esp when we tried some swing passes and the UW DB's were already tackling the WR's a second after the ball is caught.

We walked through the entire tailgate area north of the stadium and we were hoping some UW fans would welcome us into their tailgate, but nobody talked to us. At one point, we approached a few UW fans to say hi and talk a bit, but they didn't seem too interested to carry on any conversation with us. Luckily we met up with a Griz fan whom my wife knows who was tailgating with UW friends, so we got to experience a little Husky tailgating.

That tailgating experience made me understand what it must feel like for some to be a visitor at Montana's tailgates. In the future, we are going to go out of our way to say hello to future visiting fans when they walk by our tailgate.

When you were in high school, did you invite the jr. high kids to your kegs?

We had a similar experience. I also left feeling as though I'm going to make more of an effort to be more hospitable to away fans

Udub is a super elitist school, for some reason maybe its because so many Seattle folks come to school in Missoula people seem to forget this. They definitely didn't take us seriously and some talked down to a few of us when we tried to be friendly and chat. Then i just challenged a bunch of them to a beer drinking contest and utterly destroyed them, so that gave me pleasure. I ALWAYS go out of my way to be friendly to opposing fans unless they are rivals or are douchebags to me. Generally speaking thats MSU, Eastern, and NDSU.

But you're perfectly fine with your team getting blown out (not scoring one offensive point) and afterwards Stitt announcing you guys played great? Nothing to see here, the scoreboard doesn't matter because as long as the players stick together the scoreboard will take care of itself. If only it was that easy.

We didn't wait to be invited in. We (myself, my brother and our wives) just walked right up and started chatting with folks. Most were very friendly. But I must say, I do NOT like the way they have their tailgating set up...really difficult to get through it.

Not what he said at all. Add poor reading comprehension to your long list of inadequacies.

Small successes may turn into larger ones considering the talent we faced and the talent we are going to face the rest of the way.

Whoever said the Griz players didn't compete, very clearly has never played a down of football in their lives...

I thought the Griz competed well the first quarter and a half. Really until Phillips fumbled on the 4th and short. I really liked how our OL performed in the first half. They were able to get some punch and even open some lanes for our running backs, which is impressive considering their DL is as talented and as physically imposing as you will find in all of college football.

Overall, there was just a big difference between their athletes and our athletes. The biggest discrepancy in talent was their OL against our DL. They were just much too big and athletic for our guys to match up with. It really wore our defense down by the 2nd half.

The guys played very hard throughout the game though. Never lost their composure and did some good things throughout the game, even after the game got ugly.

I actually feel better about our team after this game than I did after the Valpo game. They got better this week.

Didn't watch the presser, but I already agree with you. Cat fans have to know how to handle losing.

I just can't believe that you're bragging about a post-loss press conference. That's almost a new low.
