Hauck’s return engenders confidence, apprehension simultaneously

Good Article and Ryan makes some good points as how someone who was not here for Hauck round one or during the "Scandal" sees it. I disagree with him on some points, but also agree any issues had more to do with the community, societal trends as a whole than Bobby Hauck.
Stitt was very lucky that he didn't have an "violent" issue with the incident that occurred out of state. The nature of college sports is that young men will make mistakes. I believe what is important is what is done about it when they do.
The other day on your podcast Ryan talked about this upcoming article.
He stated there are plenty of examples of teams that build programs with "choir boys" and win with no incidents. I disagree. I can not find a single division one team with a winning record that has not had an off field incident in the last 4 years. He used Notre Dame as his prime example. Notre Dame has not been choir boys over the last 4 years they just have not received as much media attention about the off field issues including violent assault and weapons possession and sexual assault allegations:

Washington State in recent years has been treading fine line for example. A number of players that should of been expelled but weren't etc and frequent incidents and a suicide. This has not reached anywhere the scrutiny that UM was placed by the local and national media yet the problems may be on a grander scale. I fear at UM the media, for their own stake and to keep the drama going, will blow any issue, no matter how minor, out of proportion and anything short of scorched earth will not satisfy them as that will sell more articles and more papers etc and make a more compelling drama.
Also I feel it is unfair to judge a past event under a modern lens. We keep acting like Bobby Hauck had a crystal ball into the character of each recruit. Remember modern social media did not exist or was in it's infancy during the Bobby years. The only way he could of got the kind of insight people expected him to have had would have been to hire a private investigator for every potential recruit. He had to go on the interviews and interaction of the recruit, what others had to say about them and if they had any public incidents. It was kind of a roll of the dice with every potential recruit. He also did not spend every waking hour with these young men and babysit them. Is he 100% free of any responsibility no. But he is not responsible for the problems of a society in general and of a culture that came from off of the field.
