Singleton VS Olson

Looks like they may compete with each other at some time for a roster spot at inebacker. Alex Singleton (MSU) already has a Grey Cup on his resume in the CFL and went to the Eagles late last year, but he only had TWO tackles. I say our boy Olson has a chance...

Time for some football talk, speculation, chatter and rumors, etc. Get it?

This is not coronavirus related...you might consider posting it in the basketball forum

Singleton was a factor in two games against UM; 26 tackles (8 solo). 1-1
Olson was factor in two games against MSU; 41 tackles (14 solo). 0-2

I like Dante's chances.

From all accounts, they are both really good dudes. I hope they both make the team and make a significant impact.

I say both too. Singleton is a very good player and a nice guy. I've met him through the Timmer family. Two of the Timmer boys played for MSU, and 1 for Griz. Ty is now an orthopedic surgery resident in Fargo, at NDSU, I believe.

I found conflicting stats on him:
"In his first season with Philadelphia, Singleton appeared in 198 special teams snaps over 10 games and tied for fourth-most special teams tackles (8) on the Eagles roster."

But I also see him credited with only 2 tackles elsewhere like you said.

They are probably battling for the same special team spot, so the veteran probably has the earlier edge.

Depends on how much that veteran makes, all else being equal....

Singleton is on a rookie contract and makes roughly $500k/year.

Hmmm....well then I don’t know. Not sure why it has to be either/or, though...unless only one kid from Montana is allowed at a time on the Eagles...

2 FCS guys, same Conference and Rival schools, talk about a cool story. I watched more Eagles games last year only because of Singleton, same when Anderson played.

Agreed....As I said above, I'm rooting for both.

Most valid point on this thread and probably the ONLY reason Dante makes an NFL roster (because he's cheaper). Anybody can cover an NFL kick that goes into the end-zone no matter how slowly you get there.
