Signing day

Selvig reminds me of Paul Gasol on the Lakers. When Selvig is playing well and being aggressive he is a star. When he is not then everything get thrown out of whack..or for a more recent Big Sky conference reference.

Branden Johnson at MSU had to work hard to develop into a valuable player for the Cats and difference maker with a lot of hustle and good 3 point shooting. Selvig has more natural talent than Johnson, he just needs to take advantage of it and be more confident in his abilities.

In case you don't know WaGriz4life is referring to Corvallis's senior to be Riley Bradshaw. A 6-4 athletic combo guard who is getting national attention. It will be interesting to see if his recruitment takes off this spring and summer like Josh Huestis did two years back.

Bradshaw was the Griz Elite camp MVP (or what ever they call it) last year as a junior. That camp featured not only some of the best Montana campers but quite a few D-1 (seniors) recruits from Idaho, Washington, Colorado and Wisconsin who were invited to come by the Griz staff.

Watched Riley quite a bit the last two years. He must have really grown this spring because he was 6'2" last time I saw him and that's just been a couple months!

It would be great to see him play against better competition than what I saw play against him. "Teams" played him well by scheme at times but he has so much individual talent and skills it's just remarkable to watch a kid that age do what he does.

My best Riley story happened this past fall. Corvallis played the night before and didn't have a Saturday game that night. I was driving over the bridge leaving Hamilton (going north) and I looked at the walking\jogging track next to the road and here is Riley out for a run. He was at least 4 or 5 miles from Corvallis and he lives near Victor I'm told ( 6 miles or more) so his idea of a restful day off was a multi mile run! If he fails anything regarding basketball it certainly won't be do to lack of effort!

Grizbacker1, I don't recall seeing the phony Vietnam stories. Can you post a link or is this something that he told you in a local establishment over beers?

Just thought it might be entertaining, now that we have a long painful wait until Aug/Sept and football. 8-)

You have to remember SteveDill has been banned under at least 100 other names, so there is no way to link it. To make a long story short, he bragged about being in Viet Nam, dropped the name of a place he was supposedly at. The problem is, he was at UM, riding the pine on the INTRAMURAL baseball team when said incident took place. A better story is when he ran scared shitless out the back door of Mo Club after Alpha intrduced himself. This was a result of StevieDill writing a check with his mouth his ass couldn't cash.

I have heard this rumor from a couple sources this morning

The Lady Griz have signed 5-11 shooting guard / small forward Hannah Doran from Crescent Valley high school in Oregon. Doran comes from the same high school that produced former Grizzly greats Brooklyn Lorenzen and Lauren Cooper. It is an interesting pick up at the spot where the Griz seem to have the most depth, but it goes along with what I have always said about Selvig's recruiting. He recruits the best player available more so than position and then design each years team around the talent he has.

2011 or 2012?

When Selvig plays well, we are a different team. If he can get a little stronger and show more consistency next year he will be all conference next season. When your power forward can pull the bigs out and can shoot and pass the ball (which selvig does very well) it opens up the key for your guards to drive and penetrate. Defensively, its unfair to expect him to be as effective as Qvale. He does get puched around a bit, but he is also smart about it and does force turnovers. Selvig will be one of the best and most important players on our team next year and if he wants could play professionaly over seas after he is done here.

Selvig will never see either ALL-Conference status, or the court over-seas. Remember you read it here.

Why do I have to remember that? Doesn't really matter, I'm sure you'll remind us all if you were right anyways... If Selvig has an all-conference year next year (which he has the talent and skills to definitely accomplish), he'll get a chance to play over seas. There are so many leagues over there that it doesn't take the greatest player to catch on somewhere.

This would be cool! I like Manny, and I am sad o see him leave GU. If UM could get him, it would be awesome. He's a freakish athlete and he can knock down open threes pretty well. He was one of GU's best looking rebounders too. I don't know why his PT went down so much. Some thought he was a defensive liability, but I guess I didn't see that.

Manny had some big games early in the season. 16 against ND and 13 against Baylor. He missed some free throws (1 for 6) in the OT loss at San Francisco and never played again. They say he got lost on both offense and defense.

Demetri Goodson is leaving to play football. A lot of Zags have left the program in the past two years but these two were better than the others.
