Anybody else find it interesting that the local kid (Swartz) gets a partial, but the two out-of-state DL prospects are walking on?
yes.
Not at all. It's possible Swartz may not redshirt. He's 6'5" and about 230. Runs a 4.75 forty and benches 335. Strong, fast, and will only get better. He was HM state his Jr year and 2nd team state as a Sr from Hellgate for goodness sakes. That says alot in itself

Announcing walkons on Signing day helps win the PR award, as every news outlet in Montana will say that Montana signed 12 MT kids while MSU "only" signed 5...

I just thought it was more difficult to get OOS kids to walk on because of the cost issue...

I was in jr high when dylan stenseth was in elementary school in Hobson. Not sure when he moved to ltown but last i remember of him he was a short fat annoying lil kid that always a nuisance. He was quite the douche early on.

Or it acknowledges those kids who are willing to pay their own way for the love of the game and to prove themselves.

You two probably got along famously then.

Sorry, that was just sitting on a tee, had to be done. I don't want to derail the thread. 8-)

Reggie Tilleman (DE, 6'6", 215) out of Genesee HS in Idaho has a 4.0 GPA.  '

These are his Junior highlights...also, any kid who puts his highlight video to AC/DC is alright by me! :thumb:

I think it's a great idea, especially when you have a small class. I think Ash also reported walk on's his first couple years, but, then went away from that as his signing classes improved.

Na, I don't like annoying little dipshits that run off .5 brain cells. But, you and him are about on the same retard level so maybe yall would hit it off.

A lot of schools treat walk-ons pretty poorly. There is a story from Meyer era at florida that they would bring in walk-ons in to be tackling dummies for gator tackling drills. Gator tackling is a roll tackle from behind that could save a touchdown but you run the chance of blowing a guys knee out. So you don't want to do the drill with kids on scholarships running the football.

Nebraska back in the day of unlimited walk-ons made hay on getting kids to come there without paying. Mostly instate kids.

But I like the idea of letting people know these kids are walking on, but are still good enough to be a part of the recruiting class. Sends a good message.

Carl Johnson 6' 180lb RB Hardin
Tyler Richtmyer 6'-2" 215lb LB Msla Sentinel
Manu Rasmussen 6' 180lb S Tigard OR

Shayne cochran is from Culbertson Montana not Meridian Idaho and i think it is a very big mistske taking Manu off offense.
