I can't wait until Stitt (if he's actually hired) has even a little success, and PlayerRep claims he supported him the whole time.

Dude, we got it, you're a dipshit. You don't have to keep trying to convince us.

Anyone who thinks multi-million dollar donors don't frequently want or get their own way is a total idiot.
Well no shit they want to get their way. That's how they got money in the first place.

Dumpster fire huh? Funny considering I bet the large majority of Griz fans would take any of the top 3 coaching candidates that have been discussed here over the lump you guys have in Bozeman right now. Big Game Rob is about as inspirational as droopy dog from what I understand. What was Ash's record against Delaney anyway? Oh yeah... 1-2.

Where would he fall on my list if I were choosing a new HC for the Griz?

1 - Hauck
2 - Pease
3 - Stitt
....

....
12835 - jcu
12836 - DaeDae
12837 - Some guy I saw at Walmart in the produce section who was talking to the carrots
12838 - Big Game Rob
12839 - Jamie Marshall

If a donor pulls his gifts because of who the choice of coach is, I question whether they are a very good fan to begin with. People should want the best for the program and that doesn't always mean everyone gets what they want. If they decide not to give, I imagine the school will carry on and likely someone else will step up.

We don't even know who the coach is for sure at this time anyway.

Looks like you never played the game of giving or asking for a multi-million dollar donation. It would seem to be awkward to ask for a huge donation from someone who just asked that X be hired as the coach, when Y got the job. Maybe it's just me. Maybe I'm just imaging that people with tons of money are sort of used of getting their way. Maybe they just say, hey, no big deal that you didn't listen to me, how much do you need?

Are you serious about this? I feel like I'm watching a bizarre soap opera right now. Let me get this straight. So Ash retires. I'm a potential huge doner, and Cruzado/Fields know it. I call them and say, "You know, I've been thinking about kicking a couple million into the football program, and I really like Van Diest as a head coach, wink wink." They don't hire VD but rather hire Stitts. I'm pissed. Are they really supposed to hire VD in this situation, in PR's world? I must be missing something here.

If major Donors are dictating coaching decisions you guys are screwed. Next they will be on the field wanting to call plays

Call the first play of the game for $10,000 anyone?

Can I use the 5th play on special teams and back the d-line 5 yards off the LOS?

In my business, I have dealt with alot of people who have alot of resources. People don't seem to cross them, and they seem to be treated with kids clothes alot.

"Alot" isn't a word. So you used a nonsense term three times in two sentences.

What does it mean to be "treated with kids clothes?" I have never heard that expression before.

While it is not easy to guess what you mean, I think you mean to say that wealthy people want to be around people who grovel and are obsequious. And I'm just saying that any wealthy person who wants to be treated that way is a fucking idiot.

Question to all those self proclaimed "insiders" (seriously, I know some of you do have the insight to provide an answer on these). Most of my intimate knowledge on football programs is from the NAIA level. I really don't know what goes into the politics and influence of boosters in the program. So here it is:

1. What role have the boosters played in previous coaching hires at Montana?
2. What are the expectation of these "influences". What role to they expect to play in this process?
3. Are these checks written with expectations to being involved in decisions made by the athletic department?
4. What qualifications are these influences looking for in the new HC? Are they opposed to hires that are outside the circles of the program? Do they expect the HC to have former ties to the program?
5. If a hire is made that these influences don't agree with, how would they react? Would they still support the program? How perverse is their behavior of donating money or withholding money from the program based on decisions that are made?

Just seems like strange behavior to me. Maybe I'm naive though? Seems like many large programs make outside hires. Why should Montana be any different and why should we limit our search to only candidates that boosters recommend?

I'm on record as saying 8-3 next year no matter who is hired, whether it be Stitt, Pease, Hauck, Saban or my personal top choice, Eric Taylor from Dillon, Texas. The Griz fall to NDSU, EWU AND MSU. Playoffs will be a bubble because of the 11-game sched, but I think the Griz squeak in, and with all that UM lost, a new HC and still being on NCAA probation, I would consider that a successful season. But that's just me.

I am sure they always want their way...and I have more respect for an AD that is willing to think for himself and make the move he believes is right even if it is not popular amongst the donors

I agree with you, unless it cost the school $10 or $20 million. Then, I would think the AD/president probably made a big mistake.
