Show of Hands: Does Anybody Care How Much People Spend to Attend Griz Games?

MikeyGriz said:
Some call it a form of national service. Others call it a career!

Service, yes. And I had a great time while I was in, for the most part. Except for those times I didn't. But the draft had different terms.

$50 is too much for an FCS game. Anything over $30 is too much in my opinion. I think a lot of younger folks that want to go to games can't afford them.

Fellas, this thread is for saluting the heroes who brave the I-90 chicane 5-8 times every year only spend as much money as they want and then complain about it on eGriz. It's not about this other stuff. Thx.

I think you ought to let AWS decide what the purpose of this thread is intended for (other than mocking all the bullshit posts everybody likes to put on these various bullshit threads). Besides, I don't know for a fact that you ever played (or coached) the game so what in the f*ck entitles you to pass judgement or correct anyone? With that said, would PR call you (or us)
A) An idiot
B) Idiots
C) Stupid
D) Told you and/or me to quit posting stupid stuff
E) Quit making things up
F) Told you it's obvious you never played the game
G) You don't know what you're talking about

Hate to be "That Guy" but true Montanans tell distance in hours, not miles... A commitment (in my mind) is anything over 5 hours driving.

I am a born and raised Montanan, so I don't think I need a lecture or ruling on what "true" Montanans do.

I've experienced that alternate mode of measurement when I worked back east and down south. This was mostly due to traffic being the limiting factor not distance. I would say here the limiting factors are distance and/or weather. Otherwise, if I drove 50 miles at 10 mph that would be a commitment by your standard. I have seen vehicles like that on the road!

So you know that we judge distance by time... I have no idea how many miles anything in Montana is, I just know from Bozeman

Billings is Just under 2 hours

Helena 1 1/2 hours (not now because of the construction, so go through Boulder)

Great falls is "Just under 3 hours"

Chester is 4 1/2 hours (depending on deer and Tiber Dam traffic)

Damn, I didn't know Cassius was a slave. Who knew? I just ass/u/med that with the Emancipation Proclamation and the Thirteenth Amendment, that that issue was settled long ago. Some people just are uninformed, like his 'white slave master.' Thank God for the internet. He could have changed his name to Mickey Mouse and I couldn't have cared less. But, I guess that would have interfered with his draft dodger status in the eyes of the local Draft Board. What? Didn't know he was a draft dodger? What is the 'Draft' I speak of? Google it.

The left leaning intellectual elite call it conscription. The tea party right calls it poor dumb ass who couldn't get a deferment...
So let me try and see if I’m picking up what your are putting down, ok? So you just posted about the left intellectual elite and the tea party right. Is this the divide you speak of in your prior posts, the right and left, is there not also a moderate center or right and left of center? If so where do I fit in your political construct and say argh!, PR, Az and yourself. Thanks man

Ps. I’m allegedly a lefty, libbie, dem talking pointer, idiot, moron, podunk lawyer (that gem was from you. Lol had to look up the etymology, and fuck yeah I’m proud to be a podunk lawyer, like Abe, and Darrow, the “sophisticated country lawyer” and Spence, lol ) ambulance chaser, always loved that one, social justice warrior, lol, I was schooled by the goddamn jesuits, “Christ’s Stromtroopers” my constitutional law professor Francis Conklin, was a former Jesuit, with a PhD in philosophy who left the order and then became a law professor, crammed all that social justice bullshit down our throats, as he taught us the complexities and conundrums of constitutional law. He taught us to question the theological validity of the Judeo-Christian construct and argued that it was essentially an invention of American politics. So I hope you get my drift, I’m a fallen catholic boy who can’t quite shake Conklin and his social justice lectures I guess.

Ps. I really enjoy your vague but poetically accurate references to Montana place names you throw out. I still going to need a cliff note on you to appreciate your posts. Lol :thumb:

That's all well and good, but I measure the distance from Fargo to Winnipeg in miles. It's 220.

Thanks man, I always thought it was 355 klicks, but it’s quite a bit closer eh? Sounds like a twofour then (Canada speak for a case of beer or a “twofour” the number labatts you will have drank in drive from Fargo up to Winni. Lol)

So in other words you never learned to think for yourself and question all the answers, hence you chose a career based upon precedence. Got it. My fiance went to a Jesuit High School and has only missed a couple of masses since we met (she very religiously watches television every Sunday).

There's nothing serious in any of my posts, as I'm certain you've noticed in everything everybody else posts also. Just a bunch of bullshit to pass the time. I do appreciate all the newspaper articles PR posts and enjoy all that argh! contributes. As I've stated, I come from a large family of edumacated folks who constantly mocked each others credentials, schools and intelligence. In the final analysis, Ecclesiastes 2: 12-15 gets us all I think at some point in time so why hang out with your card carrying Mensa relatives as they ponder menses...and the finite difference between deprived and depraved in printed form only and what is the cause and effect of one upon the other...

I live 1185 miles away. How long would it take to drive there? Too freaking long - that's what planes are for. I have air miles saved up, and THIS was going to be the year I made it to multiple Griz games. Obviously the universe hates me.

Big miss tipping your hand with air miles in the coffers. When you do eventually fly to Missoula, you have to take the price, triple it, and tell us all that price. Then, tell us that the C’mon Inn on North Reserve is $850/night.

Who's complaining? There was an honest question asked regarding the impact on Missoula should there be no fall football in another thread. Some honest answers came in that had nothing to do with complaining; obviously attendance is voluntary. The impact is large. Somehow it gives rise to this (useless) thread and provides you an excuse to accuse. Why you're so motivated is a good question. Maybe a lot of the accusers are those who don't attend games, attacking those that do.

I didn’t read that thread. Was just going off experience. I’ll go give it a read. :thumb:

EDIT: Seems like that was mostly about socialism, or something. Not my cup of tea, but you guys can keep at it. :thumb:

You are exactly right and I made a grievous error. In these politically correct times, when confronted with an egregious mistake, all one can do is admit one's inherent bias, sit in that discomfort and resolve to do better. I'm sure it will actually cost me millions of dollars to come to my next Griz game.

The time spent on the road, for those living outside the former paradise called Missoula, is big factor. I never spent the night in Missoula, just got back in the hot rod and beat feet home. LONG DAY! Lots of deer. In my youth, lots of beer. Got over that long ago. BUT, there are those who spend the night, get food and entertainment in town, buy this and that. Adds up. I would venture to say, a large number are also not in the cheap seats, like me. GSA tithing for better seats, increased tithing for much better seats, and uber tithing for the best seats. The seats are a fixed cost, unless UM will refund the fees for non-attendance or no season. Now, I didn't read ALL the posts on the subject, but those I did simply said it would be easier to stay home. No road, no expenses. NO BITCHING AT ALL! Just common goddamned sense. Not so common in todays world.

My deferment had and has a name: Bachelor of Arts from THE University of Montana. Any others out there???
