Should the Griz...

The long mesh is gimmicky at best. I prefer to do what we do, well enough that the defense doesn’t matter. No knee jerk reaction, be better at what you do than they are wt what they do. If the long mesh is your deal great, not for me.

I don't have a particular affinity for the action except it does freeze linebackers for an extra second opening up digs, slants, curls, seams, and wheels.

We can do the same using motion with Shafer or Finch, the defenses have figured out that 84 leads them to the ball. If our line fires out as if run linebackers and safeties are going to bite as well.

As I watched that mesh in the Tarleton-Abilene Christian game, I kept thinking that Montana's blitz packages would annihilate it.
Watching that game, it was really apparent that you need a strong o line and a compliant defense. The mesh they were doing was a slow developing play that an aggressive defense (or a more physical one) can disrupt. I get that it is an extended RPO, but in the face of pressure or penetration that mesh needs to shorten considerably. Good corner and safety play plus pressure makes that play a guaranteed sack or tfl.
