Last week I sat with three recent msu football players that played for coach Ash. One said while at msu for 5 years we had the best win loss record ever and we get rid of the coach? I have known these players for seven years (good guys) another one spoke up and lamented he wished msu had gotten Hauck instead of Choke. In any event these guys all have jobs and don't love Wadded that is for sure.
My almost anxious question is what will replace the msu late season melt down? Sunday, Choke stated it was his fault his team was not ready to play Weber. Duuh
Ash was poorly treated. Much like "our locker room" last year, a good deal of hindsight and exaggeration took over about a "divided" locker room, and on and on. The fact is, despite their overload of braggadocio, MSU has a tough time getting the talent that UM gets They've had fantastic luck with quarterbacks, but that luck had to run out sooner or later, because it was just that: luck. Luck, and Ash has to get some credit for getting them and getting them developed.
Like some on egriz, Choate was the recipient of a ton of fanbase projection early on; not quite at the level of "offensive genius," but he was lauded for his "old school" approach to coaching and team discipline. And off went the Wombat fan base. The problem now is that Choate is remarkably poor at team management and public relations. He needs to get a manager for those post-game pressers. I'm not a fan of "coach-speak," which only vaguely resembles English for most coaches, but Lord, that man doesn't just wear his heart on his sleeve, he's got all his internal organs out there.
He doesn't project cool, steady, rebuilding, he projects panic, anger and desperation.
