Shakeup

Here is a little bit of an update on the players I mentioned before.

Renado Parker - Looks like he is going to go to North Idaho JC with ACT problems, I had heard that the griz were trying to get him to walk-on (his NCAA sit out year for non qualifiers), but it sounds like he will go the JC route. Still the Griz have placed quite a few kids at NIC.

Casto- Yea you guys are right it sounds like WSU may have an open scholarship, but I have heard they are looking at quite a number of Kids, including a 4 star guard out of Oregon who just received a release from Pepperdine. His number one choice would be Gonzaga 1 st (not out of the question) and WSU 2nd after that.......

Any Duke fans out there? Heard of guy named Kyle Singler well his little brother 6-foot-6, 230-pound Jacob is has identified Montana Nebraska, and Seattle U as the schools he is most interested in.

I can speak of the kid from SIC...

Very, very athletic swing guy and can jump out of hte gym. Maybe the best player in the conference by a good margin. Anyone who ends up with this kid will be getting a very good college basketball player.

Watched him a couple times last year, and once this year. Pretty impressed with his skills as a defender and does a great job in an offense that is constantly moving.
He does not have real impressive stats on the SIC site. Are those stats correct? Is there more to the "story"?

I am hearing more whispers here in Spokane about the chances of Casto landing at Wazzu are going up. It stills sounds that whether or not Casto can qualify will be one of the largest hurdles to overcome.

WSU is fill up with players
That is true. However, Casto himself has said that Bennett wants him to take Sauls ticket if he doesn't come back from the head ringing. There appears to be more going on than just that thus I suspect there will be an opening and, if so, he will end up at WSU.

Even if he does not I can assure you that the only way he puts on a Montana uniform is if he tanks the SAT and has to go the Stuckey route. Why would you possibly play for a weak coach in a putrid conference when you can easily go Pac? I have no idea what his core-course GPA is, but the UM SAT requirement is laughably low and easily attainable. Start rooting for a painful score, but one just high enough to get him into Missoula.

Hell, Tankle got in...
Not that it's the same but both Qvale and Selvig turned down WSU.

No matter what anyone here says or does regarding Tinkle, Colsteveaustin is a hater. It is pointless to argue with him. He is entitled to his opinion, just as I am entitled to mine. My opinion is, Colsteveaustin is jealous, thinks he knows it all, and chances likely to bash any coach not winning national championships. He also knows next to nothing about college basketball coaching, and is unaccepting of anyone needing to learn a new job in any profession. He is a bitter bitter unforgiving sole. If and when, Tinkle or any coach tastes success he will never admit he was wrong or even give out a congratulations. I wonder if he has ever supported a coach from the get go?

Out of curiosity sake, who in the hell do you think would be a head coach we have heared of that you would support from the get go? BTW, they have to be obtainable. I ask because I have never seen a positive post from him regarding this program and is always bashing a good guy, that in time will be a good coach. Come on Mr know it all, dean of coaching "who do we need to get in here as a HC? Do you ever give anyone the benefit of the doubt here or in person? OR are you automatically negative on anyone until they prove you wrong, even then I doubt you would own up to being proved wrong.

It is obvious you are not supportive of Tinkle, if and when they taste success, stay the hell off the bandwagon, after all you have never supported him to begin with. We will be looking for you at fan boards with programs that have won national championships. Go get lost on other board but this one. :beer2:

I get a picture of Col Sanders everytime that loser posts. If he had the nads to say any of his shit to Tinks in person, he would be calling Tinks daddy.

GB, what are you talking about? Honestly bet that Tinks would let Trace take care of this guy. Hell he would probably be calling Trace Daddy. :thumb:

YES, did not even realize I spelled his name completely wrong.

SIU runs 10 guys out there a night. And most nights, they are clobbering teams in their conference by 35 or 40.

Eastern ended up with one of their guards last year (Deleon I think) and the guy averaged like 4ppg 5apg...

My worry is can the guy handle half court sets. SIU and Peery's philosophy is to recruit athletes and run you out of the gym. Couple of times I think he ran close to 15 guys out on to the floor to play. He gets them from Boston, NYC, Detroit, wherever he can get them. Good thing is, if they can handle Twin Falls, they can handle Missoula.

They run really basic sets and the philosophy is moving with out the ball and not real dedicated offensive sets.

Athletically I think he can play at the D1 level, and to really see what he does, you need to seem him in person. To be honest, I saw him more last year than this year, and I thought he was the best player on the floor last year for SIU.

You people throwing the "hater" word around just because a poster thinks Tinkle is a poor coach is a joke. I do not know what colevas....'s BB experience is, but I was an all-conference guard in high school at a AAA school, then was a high school coach. Three of my former players played Division I college basketball.

Do I qualify to express my opinions about Wayne Tinkle's coaching prowess, or am I just another "hater" if I tell you that I do not believe that he is a Div. I calibre coach?

I will be specfic in my criticsms. They are:

1) he does not teach defense. This years team is the weakest Griz team defensively I have ever seen. I am being honest about this. Montana used to be among the top 10 teams nationally in team defense, year after year. Now, they are a joke defensively.

2) his teams do not play hard. They are out-hustled in every game

3) from observing his players during time-outs, it is obvious that many do not listen to him or respect what he is saying.

These three problems will doom any team. Unfortunately, being a nice guy is not one of the key qualities in being a good college coach. Call me a hater if you wish. I believe that any person who has played the game or has coached at a high level will agree with me after watching Montana play this season.

You immediately lost all credibility with the claim Montana was regularly a top 10 defense in the country. I don't thin the men's team has ever earned that distinction, and they definitely were never a perrenial top 10 Defense. The ONLY Montana team that has ever done that is the Lady Griz, but we are not discussing them.

Do you think because you played HS ball or had players that made it to college makes you some sort of expert? Most HS kids get to college despite the poor HS Coaching they get. I know a Montana HS team that had 5 players go on to college ball, and everyone knew that guy couldn't coach a lick. I also know several posters on this board that played college ball, but don't brag about it just to try and impress.

Please tell me what years the Griz men were ranked in the top 10 nationally on Defense. It should be easy since it happenned so often, at least according to you.

I am short on time, and about to finish lunch. I agree with Backer regarding GRIZ D. I do not recall any one year they were top 10 in defense. I could be wrong, but I certainly would say they have never established a reputation as a top defensive program. If we add quickness and athleticism to go with our height, I think we are capable of being a good defensive team.

I know a few on egriz that have coached at various levels. I choose to coach strictly AAU ball from time to time, when time permits. I was fortunate enough to get 2 years of college paid for thanks to basketball. All be damned if I will ever give my HS coach from my SR year any credit for that. He was a lousy coach that ruined a good team. If anything, I went from getting small college looks as jr to ZERO looks and falling off the radar as a SR. The coach had a notion to rebuild young, and SR's got shafted.

I was crushed when not offered any schollies as a SR. Fortunately my parents encouraged me to stick with it. While playing p/up ball with some JCers I was noticed and offered. I will leave it at that, and am thankful for those 2 years, despite an awful HS coach. If he were to ever take credit for my going to college playing ball, I would certainly take exception to that. In turn me or any of my teammates making to college ball was not any of his doing.

So... SeattleGrizFan/AZGriz/Wolfman/Etc you're a high school coach now as well? Your resumee grows each time you create a new account. Wasn't it just a few months ago you posted claiming to be a student who roomed with a current player on the football team?

Well, well, well. I sniffed the short little pickle out again. All conference eh Steviee? Mind telling us where and when you were this great player, and where you coached and when. I am sure we can verify that just like your Viet Nam war hero claims, while you were at UM at the same time. When you come back for the 117th time, why not use this name...... AESOP. :loser:

Come on guys. Don't you remember??? He was on the University's baseball team back in the day.

He played intramural, and from what people who saw him play say, he sucked. I am sure he was the last kid picked in gym class too.

I don't have any problem with someone who has the opinion that Tinkle is not a good coach. Opiniona are like assholes, everyone has one. The problem I have with colsteveaustin is the intentional misspelling of coach Tinkle's name. You lose credibility the second you do that. It is something junior high kids do.

I think ol' steve himself needs to do a little self-relfection. He reincarnates himself into users with various degrees of obnoxiousness. Some of his personalities seem hellbent on getting themselves banned almost immediately. Others take a slightly more diplomatic approach, like "intheknow". Of course, there is also the question of basic honesty. Using multiple screen names to somehow convey the impression that you are many people with the same viewpoint is just plain dishonest and pathetic. :twocents:

Hello, my name is Steve, and I have a habit of creating entirely too many usernames only to be banned very shortly after. I will probably create three more e-mail accts/usernames tonight because I want to be an asshole and create more work for Chris, because I need to be babysat like a three year old. I'm not wanted on here, but I keep coming around anyways because I think people care what I have to say, but really, I just want to get this board shutdown like I did UMGB. Thanks for reading!
