Seyfert injured?

I heard a rumor that the big man blew-out his ACL. Does anyone have any information. If it's true how/when did it happen. Without John down-low the griz could be in trouble in the paint.

I saw him gimping around campus this morning. I was chatting with someone at the time, but I think he is on crutches. Of course, the U will use the HIPPA privacy law to say that they can't comment on injuries.

He played in the Griz Roundball Golf Tournament last Friday and looked just fine. Matt and Kevin played also. The whole team, including the new recruits all showed up for dinner. Great looking group. By the way, K. did secure the commitment from the 7' Aussie. He finishes highschool the end of this semester and may be on campus this Winter. Won't play until next season however.

Anyone have the name of the 7' Australian player? Or the school he went to down there? Or...any other information that might make it a little easier to find him by google searching for him? :) If not, its not a big deal...just some of us (myself included) are probably dying to dig up more information on this recruit (stats, articles about him, etc etc). Thanks in advance!

Try Ben Allen 6-10 250 Melbourne AU. I am not sure if this is the guy you all are talking about, but I believe we signed with the vaunted University of Indiana.

obg-the guy that is being talked about is supposed to play for the GRIZ next year. Ben Allen would be a huge get, but is going, as you pointed out, to Indiana.

Hey great. An aussie post next year. That'll be great... NEXT YEAR. Right about now, I'm worried about this year if seyfert is out. A freshman center who didn't play last year at 6'10", and then a big drop down to 6'8", and that's hasquet, who's a very talented oversized 3. Sure Strait had a great year last year, and i hear he's a lot stronger this year (i haven't seen him around campus yet. is he really as big as i've been told?), but he doesn't have the height to match up against guys like the 7 foot croatian at weber. any thoughts? does tinkle have any elegibility left?

ok, ok. ...deep breath... calmed down. first of all, does anyone know for sure that he did blow his acl out? or is it a less serious injury?

You know that Super sleuth at the mIssoulian ole Rail Cummings, he will read about it here, then in about a omnth there should be some breaking news in the Missoulian, unless he gets it from the Trib first.

About the question re: Strait (and Dlouhy for that matter)...they both look a bit bigger than last year.

Seyfert did blow out his ACL and Strait has gotten bigger in bulk but not height which is what there lacking

Glad to hear that maybe our b-ball team is getting a little bigger, they have always been the smallest div 1 b-ball team I have ever seen...

Do any of you insiders have a name on this Aussie kid? I hear the coacher are VERY high on this guy. Would really like a name so I can do some background research.

ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!

i would have to disagree with the statement that dlouhy is bigger...strait definitely muscled up this summer but matt d. just looks a little flabby.

a flabby dlouhy shouldn't be too much concern. pre-season conditioning will fix that, if it is in fact the case. let's just hope that strait didn't muscle up TOO much and get slow on us. If seyfert's out and van vliet is too overwhelmed after having missed an important year of high school basketball, the strategy should be to out-quick other centers, not out-muscle them

ReMax- I don't. He was not a strong presence in the post and was awfully inconsistent. I think we will be OK. I believe the plan all along has been for Van Vliet to play as a true freshman. I also think people will be suprised at how strong an inside player Hasquet will be. The key may be Chavez coming back.
