Service Academy

So I have touched base on this in the past but want to do so again.

I am watching Navy in its bowl game and got me thinking about this again.

It would be nice to see all Army, Navy and Air Force all non conference affiliated and not held to the same NCAA requirements other FBS schools are held to in regards to not being allowed to travel to FCS sites.

I am certain Griz fans would welcome one of the Academies to WA Griz. I would think if the allowing an Academy a trip to an FCS site every other year would work out?

I just think Navy in WA Griz would be kick ass. Or Air Force at NDSU would make for some great football.

why would the service academies give up hundreds of thousands of dollars they get for playing a Top FBS program on the road or home game revenue to travel to an FCS site and a tiny payout for the trip?

Well to promote and serve more than just the wealthy or top revenue schools. Promote the Service. There should be more to the Academies than just $$. Our military goes all over the world to serve. Why would an Academy be any different really? To me it would just promote our military even more in a positive manner. Just my two cents Poke.

Pretty much the reasons Poke said above. Yes, they are service academies, but they're also in the business of college athletics, which means, GET $$$$$$.

Yes but they don't use taxpayers dollars to support athletics. That is a good model they have to maintain

I dont know if that is correct. I may be wrong, but remember the partial government shutdown and if the academy would play the Navy/Air force game? It was a last minute decision by the pentagon to play the game. It all had to do with tax money. Though I think it is absurd, the TV deal would have paid for all of it anyway. But, nice threat by the government anyway.

The irony there can't possibly escape you, can it? They're a United States Military Academy. Built, support, funded and paid for by taxpayer dollars.
