Seriously? Butte season ticket holder stalks student

I don't want to weigh in on the relative merit of the actual city, but I will say this: almost every friend I made when I was at UM was from Butte. Some good people from Columbus, too.

Actually, the Butte economy was one of the strongest in the state through the last recession. Mostly due to MRI but while construction almost came to a halt in most other Montana cities, Butte kept plugging along. Nothing flashy, but when shit goes south we just roll up our sleeves and go to work. Its how we roll. Wish everybody had the work ethic of people from Butte.

Butte is surviving by a mine that has a number of years left. I know people who all are trying to find a way out before they cant. The population is super old, the hosing market is crap and full of 1950s homes. Really butte is pretty tragic. I know people are proud to be from butte but everywhere else makes fun of butte. It has no appeal to modern society

That's the way we like it. You probably spend more on mousse for your hair than I do on PBR every month. I also like the fact that people like to badmouth Butte, but not when they are IN Butte. People that talk crap about Butte while they are in Butte don't fare so well.

If you are working more than 40 hopefully you are getting paid overtime. If not then that's your problem. The real problem is the tax cuts for the multi rich, you know those guys that pay a lower tax rate than us working stiffs. Those same people/companies that give their CEO's 50 million dollar bonuses, while at the same time cutting the pay or just laying off their employees. That's your party that supports that scenario, definitely not mine.

Every morning I wake up I thank God for that big hole in the ground . Keeps all the transplants away .
You either love Butte or hate it either way I could care less what others think of my city . Growing up it was funny you know how many times I had to throw down with kids from all over the state coming to Butte so they can prove themselves . Poiuyter you will have to come to Hammer's tailgate , meet some real Butte Americans . I guarantee you will change your opinion . This Kello character needs to be punched in the in the mouth as far as I am concerned . Sounds like a Bernie Sanders socialist to me

Amen Hammer. Most of these Montana newbies don't have a freaking clue about Butte and what it has done for the nation, the state and what it's like today. Just remember folks, Bozeman exists only because butte needed food. Missoula exists only because Butte needed timber. Great falls exists only because Butte needed electricity. Helena existed only because it didn't seem right to have all the state's politics, banks and money parked in Butte. Butte isn't flashy for sure but when it goes to hell in the artificial economies of Bozeman, Big Sky and Whitefish, Butte stays steady. The guy bitching about this student is NOT Butte.

:lol: I am a nice guy! And I'm not confused about Montana history, I just distilled it a little because a lot of folks, like Mr. G, have that tiny little attention span. Missoula was the headquarters for the western Montana lumber industry from around 1890 to 1940s which supplied mine timbers for Butte and over 1000 cords of wood per day to be made into charcoal for the smelter at Anaconda. PM me if you ever come to Butte and want a quick tour.

And by all means do stop at Hammer's tailgate. Where you WILL find wonderful Butte People.

Actually the MRI mine (owned by Dennis Washington) has a couple decades left, assuming copper is in demand, but the mine is not the only thing holding Butte together any more. Butte's not tragic at all, unless you are a real estate flipper looking to make a quick buck before the bubble bursts (we don't have a bubble here).
