Serious question - not a troll

good lord this is not a troll nor a reason to rehash for the 1,000,098th time FCS v. FBS. Boise State alum here so no Idaho jokes, either. I'm asking a simple question that I don't recall from the 90's. Did Montana ever seriously look at I-A as an option? I mean serious look as in form a committee, perhaps hire some outside counsel, complete a report for consideration by policy-makers on the pros/cons, or do so at the direction of a President or legislative body? was the concept of a move up ever seriously explored, vetted, or modeled? Or, did talk about a move reside in the fan base or sports journalism community?

From what I have been told, both MSU and UM looked at it before, and both realized that the addition of sports, on top of full schollys only for Football (no more partials for kids) made both realize that it wasn't feasible monetarily. Don't know if it ever got to a committee or outside counsel.

It was explored and decided that it would cost too much for too little gain.

Next time please add a line about uniforms w/names that can be read from the canyon club. Best to rip off all the scabs @ once.

I don't remember any fans on this site having an opinion one way or the other.... :poke: :shit: :fuel: :dead:

Brint and I also did our own study (true) and submitted it just before the consultant's study. The consultant's study verified our conclusion. While Brint did considerable work, our study was submitted under my name. Someone once told me that they had walked into O'Day's office looking for him. On his desk was the consultant's study and ours, side by side. Ours was thicker (we had lots of attachments).

There is a strong tradition at NAU (and maybe eight other Big Sky Conference schools) of not attending games.

thanks, guys. I didn't realize the evaluation was that recent. I was thinking it happened back in the mid-90's when Reno, Idaho, Boise, Marshall all started making jumps up. I didn't know if Montana entertained the notion then.
