Not sure of the details other than it happened on Mt. Helena I believe.

I wish the Selvig family all the best through this tough time.

My wife and I offer our deepest sympathies to the Selvig Family.

Brother of longtime UM coach dies on hike

HELENA, Mont. (AP) -- The brother of longtime University of Montana women's basketball coach Robin Selvig died while hiking on Mount Helena.

Kenneth Selvig, chief assistant state attorney for Florida's Palm Beach County, appears to have suffered a heart attack, said Mickey Nelson, the Lewis and Clark County coroner. Selvig, 56, died Monday.

The Selvig name is well known in Montana, in part because Robin Selvig has coached women's basketball at the University of Montana for 29 years.

Nelson said relatives requested an autopsy not be performed.

Helena Police Chief Troy McGee said an ambulance was dispatched to the base of Mount Helena on Monday morning after a hiker found Kenneth Selvig had collapsed on a trail near a parking lot. McGee said Selvig was dead when the ambulance arrived.

The hiker who found him had administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation, the chief said.

Nelson said hikers had observed Selvig near the top of Mount Helena on Monday morning. The mountain, a city park, has an elevation of 5,462 feet.

"He seemed to be fine," Nelson said. "He conquered the mountain, so to speak, came back down and I think he sat down along the side of the trail, and just collapsed there. There's nothing to suggest any type of trauma, fall or injury."

Selvig, born in Montana, was an avid outdoorsman. He was visiting the state to attend a wedding.

He drew headlines two years ago in Florida when he defended his office's decision to release discussions of plea negotiations in radio personality Rush Limbaugh's prescription-drug case.

Selvig's survivors include his wife and three daughters.

I think this Selvig played basketball at Rocky, but I remember him being referred to as Kendall. He was a 6-4 forward. The other brothers besides Robin, as I recall, were Dave, Randy, and Doug.
