Seems to me we are missing one piece--A Big DT

Was this thread before or after greenie's crotch grab video?

These posts are almost there with uniform threads. It's been five years since they installed this defense and still, there is the prevailing sense that bridge abutments are the only kinds of DT's that need apply. Minus the times they came out flat or couldn't get off a block to save their lives, the run defense was more than adequate with AGub and Alford rotating. Jesse Sims never got over 275 and stuffed everything that came his way. The traits they are looking for are strength and speed. They've been block eaters, and the other eight guys have been the playmakers running to the ball. If big guys who can run grew on trees, I'm sure they'd be well-stocked.

NDSU and SDSU utilize four-man fronts, rotated, with none of their interior guys in the bridge abutment class. They're just FCS football players. What would help the defense is if one or more of the edge guys could rush the passer and be disruptive in the backfield. This is what TCU relied on in the past couple of seasons. Which may be a possibility given the kids they've recruited. Get that done, and this defense will be better than prior editions.
