Seed?

Whats everyones guess on the seeding. I think 14 at best but probably a 15 seed with the way the other tourneys are going.

As things stand now, I would say a 14 seed. Looking at Lunardi's Bracketology, the Griz have a better RPI than the play in game teams (2), Oral Roberts (3), Pacific (4), Delaware St (5), Belmont (6), Albany (7), Penn (8), Northwestern St (9), Winthrop (10), Murray St (11), Davidson (12), and right now South Alabama (13). So I say a 14, with an outside chance at 13. I also think that it will not hurt that the Griz are returning for a second year in a row, and as a 16 they played fairly well.

I was suprised to see that he had South Alabama at a 13 seed. There RPI is much lower than ours and they had no impresive wins except the beatdown of Western Kentucky in the championship game.
Guess we will find out what the "experts" think in the morning.

I'll say 14, but this could move up to a 13 depending on how everything else shakes out. I think the Griz' RPI is high enough.

14th seed is the most likely. 13th is possible. You have to look at both RPI and Strength of schedule. There will be teams with RPIs as low as Montanas seeded 12th but the Strength of Schedule is so much better then the Grizzly's.

Same for 13th seed. Griz are kind of border line when it comes to strength of schedule when compared to possible 13th seeded teams. As it is now, collegerpi.com the worst team seeded 13th has a strength of schedule around 190's. That is about where the Griz are ranked in Strength of Schedule. Thus, 13th seed is possible, but 14th seed is most likely.

This is just another case of that dreaded disease called "East Coast Bias." South Alabama is further east than Montana, therefore South Alabama MUST be better than Montana, whether that has any basis in fact or not (which it most certainly does NOT).

I think the Griz get a 14 seed. A 13 seed would be the ceiling for them.

Someone else mentioned the Griz getting a 15 seed and getting sent to SLC for a first round date with the Zags. Very possible. The NCAA loves to regionalize as many of these first round matchups as possible.

However, I'm starting to get the feeling that Gonzaga's stock is slipping, and they may get a three or four seed instead. And the NCAA may seed the Griz accordingly to match them up with Zaga.

Gonzaga is probably a smart bet for the Griz's first round draw. And I certainly would love their chances.

But another strong possibility could be UCLA. I think UCLA is probably a three seed, and the Griz could draw them as the 14 seed.

Or maybe Washington (again), but I doubt the NCAA would pit the same teams together in the first round two years in a row.

It's also possible that the Griz get shipped off somewhere to face a Big Ten, Big East, or SEC team, like Iowa, Florida, or Boston College.

I would love to play Gonzaga. With the way the Bulldogs have been playing, I say the Griz take them down hard! :twocents:

Since most are predicting a 13 or 14 seed, that means we will probably recieve a 15 or 16 seed...isn't that how it usually works...with us getting f:censored:d !!!

The Griz won't get a 16 seed.

The NCAA isn't usually too kind to the BSC champ when seeding the field. But there's no way the Griz get screwed like that. Their RPI is too high, and the Griz have too good a resume for the NCAA to justify that.

I could possibly see the Griz getting a 15 seed, if only for the sake of the NCAA matching them up with a regional opponent like Gonzaga.

But the Griz have the credentials of a very solid 14 seed, and possibly a 13. But I would be shocked if the Griz received a 13 seed. From the top of my head, only one BSC team in recent history has been seeded 13 or better, and that was Weber State in 2002, which was seeded 12th and went on to get hammered by Wisconsin in the first round.

I think 15 is realistic and 14 is not out of the realm of possibility.

Come on Griz! Shock the world! Sweet Sixteen or Bust!
