Secondary Needs to Improve

I am feeling really good about what I'm seeing from our Griz. Appy St is a good football team and we are right there with them on so many levels. However, if there is one thing I am worried about it is our secondary. These receivers seem open.....a lot.....and I feel like a lot of USD receivers were open last week, too, but the QB missed em. Anyone else worried about secondary or am I off?

The Griz safeties need to tackle better. None of them put the "fear of God" into opposing
receivers coming over the middle. That has been evident even in scrimages.

Secondary is our weakness on D but wasn't exposed as bad as I thought tonight. EWU will be a tough W and maybe MSU but tonight's L has me feeling optimistic for the the other games. Maybe an 8-3 finish with a playoff birth and a great future for 2013!

you are not off in my opinion.......i cannot believe the coaches want them playing so soft..........with the exception of a few times our d line and backers applied good pressure..........i do not think we challenged their receivers much if at all...........whereas we were challenged all night long....there is your difference

No question this is the weakest the safeties have looked in a long time. They don't seem to like to really lay the leather. No leadership back there as far as I can see. Hope this changes in the near future or ewu will have a field day. Front 7 are very good. Oh well we can't have seniors every year. Again I think we are a year away from being very good.

Tell that to coach Delany. His comments during camp were that Tully
and Hermanson were the two most improved players on the team.
The corners are athletic but very RAW. The DB's could be good enough
ti compete in the Big Sky. It is hard to say at this point.

That doesn't mean that we haven't had a fall off from previous years. Boy I would hate to see if they hadn't improved!
