Second half performance

Kemajic gave a good explanation of why opposing offenses are beating coverage: the defense is "cheating" to shut down the run ("cheating" is my word, his was "choice") and the safeties are therefore a step or two slow in getting back into coverage. I follow that. But why do things turn around defensively in the second half? I watched (well, I tried to watch) the PSU game, and they weren't beating the defense on pass plays in the second half. Was it a matter of more pressure (when you watch the highlights, the PSU quarterback was getting mauled)? Or does the scheme work for some other reason. Curious.

It's almost mind-boggling how much better we are in the second half.

The Griz are #1 in the nation for 2nd half point differential followed by NDSU.
In the 4th quarter the Griz D has only given up 2 touchdowns all year (9 games) and that includes Oregon.

Is it debth?
Good coaching?
Better strength/conditioning program?

We start out trading punches with everyone but consistantly wear teams out in the second half and make them want nothing to do with us by the 4th quarter.
