SDSU got 5 downs late in 2nd quarter

Another thing I was confused about was another play in the 2nd Q I think. SDSU was going to punt and decided to let the play clock wind down. However, no penalty was called and no time out was called. How the hell did that happen?

4th and 6 at UM38 PENALTY SDSU delay of game declined.
4th and 6 at UM38 Brady Hale punt 38 yards to the UM0, touchback.

I watched the game on ESPN3. Could have sworn there was 5 downs. Commented to that point on eGriz at the time. Went back and watched the replay last night specifically for that reason. STILL thought there was five downs. The refs--AND the announcers--did a crappy job of clearing up that issue....it really looked like 5 downs.

Thought a good stats guy like you would then have looked at the play-by-play stats on the website. Maybe you did.

Going to the Zappa show tonight? They are likely to play your theme song..."Broken Hearts are for Assholes" That's right.....yes, yes!

Zappa canceled.

If nothing else, I did stir up some a little noise here -- was watching the ESPN3 replay and picked up on the apparent 5th down; no mention of Griz being offside on the ESPN3 coverage. I thought the fumble play counted, didn't see the flag, no announcement, no walk off, ball placed where the O lineman who recovered was tackled. Obviously, I was mistaken.

That frigging yo-yo that ESPN3 had doing the color, the one with the Minnie Mouse voice, drove us absolutely nuts.

That guy was straight up terrible, half the shit he said made no sense and every time he said "they should...." it was the complete opposite of the logical play...I think he was a former player but to me the famous PR line "you've never played the game" seemed to fit.

What you don't seem to understand is that those of us watching the game on ESPN 3 did not get to see the penalty and, therefore, were somewhat confused as it seemed there was an extra down. You could have just said that rather than being a pompous know it all and telling people to pay attention. In fact, as somebody posted previously, we did not get to see you about five or six plays during the game because ESPN 3 was late in coming back to the game from commercial breaks.

Actually, I did. And couldn't find it (obviously, since it didn't happen)....that's why I went back and watched the game again...in real time, without the benefit of the game log, it REALLY looked like 5 downs....

Penalty was called but Stitt declined. Prevented SDSU from having a little extra buffer to pin the ball deep.
