SDSU bowl game trickle down?

So if (and I am not so sure it is the plan) Bobby is the choice....does SDSU going to a bowl change when announcement/acceptance would occur.....or would he sign, accept and SDSU be okay with him continuing at SDSU until bowl game is over since leaving to coach at a FCS school so a noncompetitor? Does him not taking over before then hurt the Griz recruiting, staff selection etc.? Or would he come right away?

Because of early signing period, I would think he would need to begin immediately, and let others coach in the bowl game.

Agreed.
Double agree.

For a coaching staff, a bowl game has only one real benefit, and possibly a second. The second might be a schedule of $$$ bonuses, but for many programs those are not all that much ... especially if it's some random toilet bowl. So the best benefit is the extra coaching time that a bowl team is allowed. But if a coach is going to leave anyway, there's not much to be gained in having him involved in the extra coaching. Better to wish the guy well and get at least an interim in place right away.

agreed the sooner the better..this will give the coach time to review each recruit and see if they got
what it takes to play..maybe he doesn't want some of the recruits..his call!

Would be stunned if UM did not honor the verbals, at least up until the first signing period Dec 20-23.

I thought someone on here already said we would? (stand behind our offers) I didn't know that but I started a thread a while back and I swore someone said Halsem had addressed that?

"....I saw in one article where it mentioned Green will be relaying to all recruits that their verbal will be honored regardless of the new coach coming it. I think Haslam may have addressed that in the press conference, stating that it is a program policy (paraphrasing) that the team will honor the commitments....."

Whether Hauck or another candidate Haslam cannot take a slow deliberate approach. He needs to make a decision and move on it. He should have already had a shortlist. If some news doesn’t come out by Monday I’ll be disappointed in him for not recognizing the importance of the early signing period.

I agree that he needs to start now and SDSU will have to figure out how to deal with the loss. We need instant DOLA. That should be written into the new contract, effective 12/1/17.

If the early signing period comes and goes and some Griz verbals did not sign, they’re probably going anyway.

I hope like heck that come this upcoming Monday or Tuesday Kent makes announcement of the new coach! If it is Hauck, I think he would rather get on the job here rather than loose even more time with SDSU and preparing for a bowl game.
I think another benefit of Hauck being hired is UM has coaching staff that played under Hauck so one would think that brings some level of common place and comfort, especially when it comes to new recruits. I would suspect Hauck would lean heavily into his former players to know whom will fit and maybe some that will not!

I’d hope he runs up to San Juan Capistrano before he makes his way here.

SDSU was a lock for a bowl game win or lose the last game, so this is not a surprise and has already been worked out. 10-2 with wins over Stanford and ASU. Expect an announcement tomorrow and presser to follow, likely Tuesday with BH hitting the deck running.

It's right on the way to LAX; he may be there as we speak.
