SD was totally over-matched, but the Griz D was very good today. 73 yards of Total O and 1 first down for SD until its last 2 drives for TD's. SD had 4 punts, a fumble, 4 punts, turned over on downs twice, a punt, and then 2 TD's.

If this is the best of the Pioneer they really have no business getting an auto-bid. What an awful team they were.

My feeling exactly ... as I have backed up with numbers on several threads. The conference OOC games for members of the "conference" are 42% with D-II, D-III, and NAIA teams. Yes, the players compete "for the love of the game" -- and I respect them for that -- but they should stay at their proper level.

It's hard to get recruits when your school costs $42K plus room and board and does not offer scholarships. Considering that, I thought they had some pretty decent bodies.......

They must be like Harvard and others who don't offer "athletic" scholarships but do offer tuition assistance. They were just overmatched but playing 2 BSC teams in a row gives them a good idea what it is like to play at the top of the FCS.

To be fair, they were actually the second best Pioneer team as Jacksonville had to vacate the title (both were 9-2).

But your point is still valid. As many of us said when they NCAA granted the Pioneer an auto birth, they simply have no business being in the playoffs. Central Washington would have put a licking on that SD team today.

I'll be honest, I started feeling really bad, and began rooting for them in the 4th quarter. The fans at Pub 85 actually gave a cheer when they got their second first down. Having that kind of disparity in the playoffs is just not right, nor is it really fair to anyone.

Don't think I have EVER seen a team go for it on 4th and 2 on their OWN 37 yard line. Until today. Didn't work out for USD.

Yet PR started a thread about the D's performance....

Nothing wrong with that. They were dominant. I don't care if the Griz were playing a high school team. That defensive effort was damn impressive.

Ok. It was a HS team.

I once saw a large man beat the shit out of a 12 year old...that was dominant. Just absolutely nothing the kid could do...that was also damn impressive...
Oh wait...no it wasnt. Ridiculous mismatches are not impressive. Kudos to delaney for calling off the hounds today. That could've been 100-0 if he wanted it to be.

It is what it is. Cal Poly and others need to take care of business and they wouldn't be out. I personally liked the game. Montana was able to get in a live practice before 14,000 fans and build depth in preparation for ewu. That is the ONLY focus right now. The only problem is The Griz practice in an actual stadium and will play the game in a practice facility.

Now that is how you talk smack! Well played! A subtle dig at Cal Poly and beauty at the Eagles.

Now you know why the Big 5 in the FBS don't want to mess around with the other conferences. They consider them glorified scrimmages with programs that can't compete - scholarships or not. If it helps San Diego and other programs gain some momentum and press for their program put them in the playoffs. East coast teams have had this advantage for years so I say let them in. This win, while predictable, gave this team even more momentum going into Cheney which can only help.

I believe Univ of San Diego had negative 1 yard of offense after the 1st qtr.

They were out of their league, pardon the pun, as 99% of us knew they would be.

None-the-less, GREAT JOB, GRIZ :!:

USD actually had their Senior starting QB quit the team and withdrawal from the university at the begining of the 2009 season because his financial package was reduced. It was after the economic downturn and his family just couldn't afford the extra expenses. His name was Sabastian Trujillo. Now that sucks!
