Scrimmage #2 Wrap Up

Sounds like that defense is sucking nuts. Is the run game finally crawling out of that hole of pathetic mediocrity, or does the defense just suck ass after losing everyone of relevance (besides Caley kibber)?

Love your infatuation with the Griz little brother. Maybe you should worry about your Kittens team. My good buddies (big Bobcats fans) went to your Sonny Holland scrimmage. Their report.....what a sh$t show....their words not mine. They said the defense still looks like Swiss cheese and now the only strength (the offense) took 10 steps backwards. They said losing Prukop is going to hurt much more than Cats fans will admit. Good luck with all of that.

Brint and anyone else who was present at the scrimmage, compared to last year's 2nd Spring scrimmage, where is this team offensively, defensively, and special teams wise? It was a new coach, but the players were all-pretty much-upper class men. Thanks in advance.

In my opinion, as a whole the team is about where they were at about 2 weeks into fall camp. The fact that the returning offensive players know a lot of the system is a huge benefit. The 1st team OL, even without Weyer playing is light years ahead of where it was last year. The defense is much more aggressive and hitting harder. My biggest concern is depth in the secondary, and some break downs against the pass.

I wouldn't be surprised if they have a better overall record than us, but worse conference record. Their non conference is much easier than ours.

And don't ask....I don't bet. I don't fight, and I don't drink. Outgrew them all when I was about 21.

Cats will win at least six games. Some people are doing the exact same thing with SUU that they did with Idaho State this time last year. SUU will NOT be the same team they were a year ago, just like Idaho State wasn't this past fall. SUU is not a Top 5 Big Sky team, and the Cats have a good chance to win there. I give MSU seven wins if they win at Weber, but I actually think that game will be tougher than the SUU game. No way the Cats lose to Sac or Davis.

My biggest concern is depth in the secondary, and some break downs against the pass.

Yep agreed - we talked about this at the scrimmage. Offense looks like they're gearing up for the regular season - not just learning the ropes. Defense is hitting hard and playing aggressive. I like the progression the offense has made. Defense still giving up a few too many big plays and I would like to see them forcing more turnovers.

The best O-Line in the league??? Call me skeptical but man I sure hope you are right. Me thinks we are a year, maybe 2, away from league dominance across the o-line. Here's to hoping you're right!

He'll have to beat out a returning starter/former Pac12 transfer and another Pac12 transfer that was a starter to do it. Quite a talent, though.
