Scrimmage #1 is today from 4pm - 5:30, updates here

I was a bit surprised that practices were closed to the public but the media was allowed. I assumed the media had been given some rules--on what could be disclosed and what couldn't be. Other schools including MSU have rules for the media. For example, nothing on injuries. UM athletics apparently has said nothing.

UM athletics should let people--media and qb club--know what the rules are. If the rules are, don't say anything. That's fine. Personally, some general comments, like the qb's looked good, VanAckeren had a big hit, Whitted had a nice interception, etc. would seem to be fine, would keep interest up in the pre-season, and would cause no harm.

Is this normal for UM? Stitt seems a bit paranoid. He definitely isn't making friends with the media, especially with the football culture that exists in Montana...

I believe that injuries can be reported on if the player has signed a media release.

This has nothing to do with what "can" be reported but what they would rather not have reported...like a possibly serious injury to an important part of the oline....

Yes, but that applies only to the university, not the media or fans at practice. The athletic dept. can certainly set rules for the media and fans, in return for allowing them to watch closed practices.

Got confirmation - this afternoon is good for updates, I'll be sharing what I see as will many others in attendance.

Tks BW, was in town today and wanted to attend, but the little ones were fading too fast. Sigh...the "Joys" of parenthood...

It's called maintaining your competitive advantage...tweets, posts, video can tell plenty more than most people realize.

Reading the tweets, it's sounds like we're in deep shit if Gus goes down...

Yup. The offense has a lot to clean up from what it sounds like. Thankfully we still have 3 weeks of practice to get it all figured out.
