You'll figure he and his pathetic loser buddies out very soon. I’m much more concerned with the cat defense vs. the Griz offense rather than the cat offense vs. the Griz defense. Our defense is solid and will do well.

If the perspective is our defense is that much better than your offense (which I think is totally fair given common games etc). If you have to choose that as the tougher match up vs trusting your defense vs our offense then that’s fair to say. BUT, I don’t think much has changed since the last time we met. I just don’t think it’s a good match up for the Griz overall. Score predictions: toss Em out the window. But I just don’t think it’s a great match up for the Griz.

What HAS changed is the quality of our defensive backs. Allowing us to put both corners on an island frees up many more people to be “in the box”, like against Idaho. We had 7-9 guys in the box regularly. Shut them down. Now I’ve always liked Ifanse, he’s a beast, and I don’t expect to totally shut him down, but we can’t let the ‘Scats get 325 yards rushing again. We WILL lose if that happens.

The UM defense has been exceptional at defending the run. Less so the pass.

I am not an expert at anything, but I know Ifanse is one of the best running backs in the league. He does a phenomenal job of hiding behind lineman and then hitting an open seam. Doesn’t come down easily either. Whatever the scheme he is tough to stop. Put Fitzgerald in front of him and the Cat running game is very effective. Prefer a different scheme than what the Griz base. Preferably a 6-6-6 for that game. The number of the beast scheme.

We could likely get away with that too as I doubt the BSC officials can count past 11. And turning off replay is now a thing so we could piggyback that on too.

Only problem with the 3-4-4 is that the Cats can actually pass this year. The QB is not that bad, recievers are a work in progress.

I realize the Bubs have the best passing running back (notice I did not say QB) that they’ve had in about a decade, but let’s pump the breaks a bit here. Sounds like the kid has gotten progressively worse each game this season and might not be able to function in inclement weather. From today’s paper:

MSU quarterback Matthew McKay was in jeopardy of finishing with less than 100 passing yards for the second straight week...

McKay completed 10 of 21 attempts but he lost a fumble on a run in the first quarter and missed some open wide receivers and looked indecisive on some dropbacks...

Saturday’s performance paired with a 12-for-19, 76-yard showing at WSU caps a poor two-week stretch for McKay...

The North Carolina State transfer had mostly passed well in the previous six games, too. It will be tough for MSU to beat EWU or Montana if McKay doesn’t return to his early season form.

If we are able to force them to pass more than they want to, I think we win the game. Not sure they can beat us passing the ball if they can't run the ball to set-up the pass. As AZ said, our two CBs are capable of playing man coverage, and I believe that they will be fine on an island.

As for Hill being weak in coverage, not sure why you think that. I have not seen enough of him to make that observation.

Against EWU, the Griz coaches installed super-aggressive blitz packages, with blitzes coming from virtually every defensive player on our team to try to stop Barriere. They have never utilized these packages before, or since. But, thanks for playing.

But you’re not calling for an “adjustment in their base defense”. You are lobbying for a complete “scrap” of their base D for the last game of the regular season and to go with a completely different and new scheme on D. :? You’ve even suggested a complete revamp like when Sampson ran the option vs UI.
Funny part is, you always say that no other legit team in the FCS runs our D. Well, how many of them “scrap” what they’ve been doing all year for their last regular season game? Would any team actually do that?
