That’s fair. I am new to this. I do appreciate your opinion. We will have to see come Nov right?

However, I unfortunately am not Hunting Ducks. Yes I’m sure it would be a classic scooby-do case as you rip my mask off but I can’t provide that for ya. I first believed him to be a cats fan but now I’m seeing he’s the estranged fan in the bunch according to many of y’all.

**Mod Edit**

Nooooope.

I am new here so I’ll take your word for it. Honestly I just want some good banter and to challenge some points. Let’s be real it gives us all something to do during the day. Even though we’re rival fans we can still give each other some content when it’s not Saturday.

Don't take his word for anything. By reading the posts in this thread, it is easy to see who talks football, and who hi-jacks every thread. You'll figure he and his pathetic loser buddies out very soon. All of them are cowards who don't have the gonads to post their real name, yet they love throwing mine around as they hide behind their keyboards.

Who hijacked the thread by not posting about football? Who was that, again?

I’m much more concerned with the cat defense vs. the Griz offense rather than the cat offense vs. the Griz defense. Our defense is solid and will do well.

If the perspective is our defense is that much better than your offense (which I think is totally fair given common games etc). If you have to choose that as the tougher match up vs trusting your defense vs our offense then that’s fair to say. BUT, I don’t think much has changed since the last time we met. I just don’t think it’s a good match up for the Griz overall. Score predictions: toss Em out the window. But I just don’t think it’s a great match up for the Griz.

What HAS changed is the quality of our defensive backs. Allowing us to put both corners on an island frees up many more people to be “in the box”, like against Idaho. We had 7-9 guys in the box regularly. Shut them down. Now I’ve always liked Ifanse, he’s a beast, and I don’t expect to totally shut him down, but we can’t let the ‘Scats get 325 yards rushing again. We WILL lose if that happens.

The UM defense has been exceptional at defending the run. Less so the pass.

  My thoughts exactly…strange given that it’s designed to stop the pass-heavy offenses in the BSC….

There are many defensive experts on this forum.

This is your best post ever Spank.

I am not an expert at anything, but I know Ifanse is one of the best running backs in the league. He does a phenomenal job of hiding behind lineman and then hitting an open seam. Doesn’t come down easily either. Whatever the scheme he is tough to stop. Put Fitzgerald in front of him and the Cat running game is very effective. Prefer a different scheme than what the Griz base. Preferably a 6-6-6 for that game. The number of the beast scheme.

I'm thinking you guys will roll out the seldom used 3-5-4 for the Brawl. That should definitely shut us down.

We could likely get away with that too as I doubt the BSC officials can count past 11. And turning off replay is now a thing so we could piggyback that on too.

I’ll run that by Bobby directly.

So do you guys think you’ll bag the defense you’ve used every single game for the past 4 seasons for that last game of the regular season?

Not unless we decide to stop the run, then some changes will be instituted.

Good thinking. It seems like such an obvious thing to do. Surprised none of your coaching staff has thought of this. It’s like they don’t even bother reading egriz. Lazy if you ask me.

Only problem with the 3-4-4 is that the Cats can actually pass this year. The QB is not that bad, recievers are a work in progress.
I realize the Bubs have the best passing running back (notice I did not say QB) that they’ve had in about a decade, but let’s pump the breaks a bit here. Sounds like the kid has gotten progressively worse each game this season and might not be able to function in inclement weather. From today’s paper:

MSU quarterback Matthew McKay was in jeopardy of finishing with less than 100 passing yards for the second straight week...

McKay completed 10 of 21 attempts but he lost a fumble on a run in the first quarter and missed some open wide receivers and looked indecisive on some dropbacks...

Vegan said: “There was just no rhythm, I felt like, today. Fortunately, we were able to make a couple big plays...

“But weird, ugly. I don’t know, you could throw about any adjective on that.”

Saturday’s performance paired with a 12-for-19, 76-yard showing at WSU caps a poor two-week stretch for McKay...

The North Carolina State transfer had mostly passed well in the previous six games, too. It will be tough for MSU to beat EWU or Montana if McKay doesn’t return to his early season form.

Boy doesn’t sound good when a new coach calls his QB’s performance “weird” and “ugly” with no rythym this late in the season. Or any other adjective. How about this adjective: the shits

Okay, I was basing my observation off of earlier performances, I had not seen that article or last weeks game. Maybe not then

If we are able to force them to pass more than they want to, I think we win the game. Not sure they can beat us passing the ball if they can't run the ball to set-up the pass. As AZ said, our two CBs are capable of playing man coverage, and I believe that they will be fine on an island.

As for Hill being weak in coverage, not sure why you think that. I have not seen enough of him to make that observation.

Fair points.

Dude, pay attention. If think that defensive coaches at every level, including the NFL, don't make adjustments in their base defense to defend against the strengths of the offense they are playing that week, then you might want to stop trying to make football-related posts.

Against EWU, the Griz coaches installed super-aggressive blitz packages, with blitzes coming from virtually every defensive player on our team to try to stop Barriere. They have never utilized these packages before, or since. But, thanks for playing.

Hey I just asked a question. :?

Oh, you mean put our defense on the field? The last four years our defense stayed in the locker room. Last game in Bozeman, the whole team stayed on the bus not just the defense....

But you’re not calling for an “adjustment in their base defense”. You are lobbying for a complete “scrap” of their base D for the last game of the regular season and to go with a completely different and new scheme on D. :? You’ve even suggested a complete revamp like when Sampson ran the option vs UI.
Funny part is, you always say that no other legit team in the FCS runs our D. Well, how many of them “scrap” what they’ve been doing all year for their last regular season game? Would any team actually do that?
