Schmaing out with appendix issue

Didn't we lose a player for a couple weeks to an appendix operation several years ago? I think they can go through your navel to do the surgery, which means they don't have to cut through your abdominal wall.

Wasn't it like Chase Reynolds or maybe Trumaine Johnson?

the appendix is part of the gut, which means its inside the peritoneal cavity, which means you must break that barrier to excise it....

Appendicitis is actually something I can relate too. I had my appendix removed around 5 years ago. I was out of work for 3 weeks from the surgery and slow recovery. I did lose about 15 lbs as well. The DR told me average recovery time is 3 to 4 weeks. If someone is lucky, and likely a younger person, maybe 2 weeks. I'd be surprised if Schmaing is back for the Wyoming game.

Good thing is, if you follow DR orders, there are not lingering problems from it. So he should recover 100%.

No, I think it was Katie Baker.

Is Colin McGillivray around? 6'7" OT w/o Portland

Has Fall courses started yet? It may be conditional that some walk-ons don't show up initially but not until they're actually a registered student. That might just be the case; considering how the NCAA does the rules and regulations bit, etc., etc., etc.

Well we should get Schmaing back after 1 or 2 games it is what 1-2 weeks till you are cleared for normal activity and 4-6 for heavy activity. But that is no guarantee he will be 100% even then. Young guys are going to have to find a way.

Former Griz hoops player Katie Baker only missed one game when you had her appendix taken out.

Matt Cassel was out 11 days several years ago.

A Florida qb started practicing 9 days later. The original timetable had been 2 weeks, but the coach said he'd probably be back earlier.

Had my gall bladder out, was bowling a week later. Had a hernia repaired, was golfing a week later. In no discomfort in either case. Not exactly football but still active. Had my appendix out, 2 weeks later got a staph infection, had surgery to install a tube (actually more like a strip of latex to keep the 3 inch wound open). It finally healed 3 1/2 months after my original appendix operation. There is an element of chance involved in the outcome. Let's hope for the 1 week variety...

Had my appendix out on Dec 23 this last December.... unlike TNT's chatter I went in at 10am and had surgery at 4pm.... went back to work 8 days later but was sore for 3 weeks.... in contrast had my gallbladder out 4 weeks ago and the next day I was able to get around fine.... was golfing 6 days after.... gallbladder recovery was way easier than the appendectomy.....

Yes but we are forgetting a top shape 20 year olds body heals and recovers a lot faster than most of us old beer drinking fatties bodies do. I think well be ok guys!

My 25 year old had an appendix emergency removal this past Spring. Three small incisions, used glue instead of stitches, surgery at 10:00 a.m., he walked out at 3 p.m., the visible incisions were healed within a week, and he was cleared to do whatever he wanted to do, with the words "but take it easy for a couple of weeks or so." $28,000 worth of modern technology.

Consider the alternatives, it's worth the money. That's what killed Houdini and he was a great athlete.

Please post your appendix surgery experiences here. Don't spare any details. If you had an infection, please accurately describe the shade of the pus. Thank you!
