Everyone has shit going on...it's their responsibility to rise above it. Show up on time do your work and study hard. He has access to more than most students in the school and can't keep it above the minimum acceptable levels. Everyone's ready to throw out an excuse for everyone these days and guess what, that doesn't change the fact that he fell short. I wish my life was so hard playing college football on scholarship...

Great post. I'm not sure what class broke the camel's back here, but I can't imagine it was a difficult one. In the very early Hauck days, I remember seeing assistant coaches all over Gallagher in the mornings to make sure certain players were showing up for class. Such efforts should not be needed, but they were made then. I wonder if they do the same now.

Canada should be his mentor. I remember when Canada had a hard time going to class too, when he first showed up on campus. That is one guy who has totally spun a 180 and has exceeded my expectations out of him..

Sociology of course being the demanding nature it is, I'm sure it was a very difficult class especially being summer session and all.

Yeah the do indeed watch close and as understand it can monitor cyberbear right down to assignments being turned in (most work is submitted electronically.) This capability will be greatly enhanced with the new academic center.

Funny you should mention hauck, one of his complaints (almost an excuse) when his APR went to hell down there was how hard it was to monitor the kids because of the amount of online work down. Its a rare student these days that is not taking at least part of his load on line.

...been saying all along...
...need that academic center...
...sounds like he could have used it...

... 8-) ...

I take it you weren't much of an academic.
Graduated college without buying most of the books. Worked 60 hours a week to pay because I didn't get a full ride football scholarship. Made the deans list more than once as well. If you honestly think its hard to go to class pay attention and turn your shit in on time you're crazy. Sorry I had my shit together and won't make an excuse for him. I realize college is hard when you go out drinking and don't study...

I will add it here as well because there are a lot of people that just assume John didn't attend class for no specific reason:

It has been reported on here several times that John's academics got into trouble as he was caring for his mother in Billings. She has had some severe health issues in the past year or so and John stepped up big time to help her. Unfortunately, it appears this was at the expense of academics.

well then.. Bless his lil heart. Way to step up for your family..

While many of you are still optimistic about the offensive line even with Schmaing and Poole out, you seem to be forgetting that we need 6-8 players ready and able to play this season. You can not depend only on the starting five to play every down, and there are always injuries too which will force us even deeper into the roster. The bottom line is that these events could totally undermine our potentially great offense.

You win games by controlling the line of scrimmage. It will be very difficult to do that this year on offense.

I don't get what happened here. There had been rumors about Schmaing being ineligible for at least a couple months prior to camp. Then camp starts and we get great news, Schmaing will be able to play. Shortly thereafter, his appendicitis issues pop up and he stops practicing a day after playing great in the scrimmage. Why did we hear he was eligible in the first place? Were the appendicitis issues legit or was it used as a cover while he attempted to clear up his eligibility issues? I'm not saying there is some big conspiracy, but the timing of all this stuff with Schmaing is strange.

Maybe he bombed a final and the cummulative fell short ..............

Maybe it's like the NFL Injury reports used to be. Full of Smoke and Mirrors and certainly not reliable. Keep your competition guessing. Jim Brown always acted injured until game time.

Wow, when was this? It seems like if he was just declared ineligible today, it must have been during the summer term. I hope he comes back.

An undersized line doesn't bode well with the NFL style power formation does it? Maybe we need to go no huddle and spread things out. Take advantage of our lighter, faster linemen?

Obviously you went to an easy school, with an easy major. Guaranteed that wouldn't have worked at Tech....I know I tried it the first couple years and it caught up with me. My job is by far the easiest thing I've ever done. I've been sitting on an oil well for two weeks now, just watching the gas....paid 12 hr days for about 12 mins of work each day. Of course without Tech, I wouldn't have this cake walk.

Sorry I went into a major that I had an interest in and grew up around it so it wasn't out of my league. Coming in with a base knowledge of agriculture made things easy. Now I'm a teacher and get the luxury of holding hands because everyone just isn't fair to their poor kids. My kids a poor test taker so it not fair and you can't expect my kid to do anything they're busy with being a kid. Apply yourself get a great job and live your life. Or, don't, make excuses about why it isn't your fault and work. Shit job. It's really up to you I suppose.

this post says what needs to be said....this year is going to be a challenge with all the o/l having never started a game except the hines kid...(I believe he had three starts)...this will force , m.d. to do much more pocket moving stuff than before the injuries and ineligibility problems...I would assume a spread package for jj of some sort...
