My personal experiences were a couple times at the Yellowstone CC in Billings, where he was out of control and required ex-MSU teammate and member, Gary Richards, to do damage control. Yes, this was probably 20 years ago, so maybe he now has it under control.

He was a hell of a college football coach but didn't always do things the right way. He had a reputation, particularly at Miami and ASU, of recruiting thugs like Vontaze Burfict. He was also a notorious job-hopper, just ask Idaho.

You have called out Dennis several times the last few months, particularly his drinking. That is all well and fine. Your experiences with him were obviously terrible and troubling you still today. I've spent quite a bit of time with him, most in drinking settings and have never seen anything over the top. I have dealt with much bigger pricks at the country club.

That said, if you were so disturbed about Dennis 20 years ago; you are NOT going to be happy about the hiring of his son! The guy can get after it! He has a great time for sure! I think his son is awesome. But based on your views of drinking and how awful Mr. Erickson is, you must be furious at this hire.

Not that facts should get in the way, but what exactly did I write that was trolling? Kem has in FACT called out DE and his drinking many times; several in this thread.

I think many around here have hung out with the guy and it's no secret he can tie one on. As can many! I guess that is a FACT too.

The same goes with his son. Your new hire, (who I really like by the way but golly gee willakers that's probably just me) also loves his drink. That too is a FACT.

So one could assume that if Kem despises Erickson Sr. for his love of the drink, he may not be real happy with this hire.

I DO talk trash about the griz sometimes for sure. Never denied that. Not sure why a griz fan would find it upsetting that a Cat fan would talk trash about the griz? I just don't feel the need to mess up the boards with little jabs like some do. I especially don't like coming on another fans board for the sake of talking trash. That bothers you and that's ok.

We have a great time at tailgates and at the Mo Club. I support having beer sales in the Stadium. I've previously stated support for the hiring of Bryce Erickson, yet another great choice by BH; we have some great TE prospects. I hope to have a beer with him in the future.

I don’t know your views on drinking. I do know that you have brought up Dennis and his drinking “issues” several times on this board, particularly when his name was mentioned for the OC position in Bozeman. You made it crystal clear you don’t like him and much of what you said stemmed from experiences when he was drinking. Some 20+ years ago you said.

We can just agree to disagree on Erickson Sr. The good thing for you guys is he was somehow able to raise a good son with a great mind for the game that I think will really help you guys.

Right on nicely said.....they are two different coach Ericksons let’s give the kid a chance and hope senior has got ahold of his addiction and keeps it in check. Addiction is a disease and not a moral failing. Hope we as a culture start to treat it differently and not stigmatize and criminalize addictive substance abuse. It’s would be more cost effective to pay for treatment rather then incarcerate and warehouse addicts that goes along with the misguided and ineffective war on drugs we have been waging And losing since Nixon.

Sorry for the rant but I have dealt with tons of addicts in my profession and it is more pervasive then most know. They are for the most part good solid citizens but they have an addiction weighing them down that effects their families and employers ripples out into society. Life is tough enough with out being constantly being chipped on or drug down because of an addiction reputation like Dennis has. Guy has had a very successful coaching career especially in college. :thumb:
